USB Tethering

I seem to have a problem and am wondering if anyone else is having the same issue.

I cannot connect my Charge to my computer via USB tethering.  The Moblie Hotspot works just fine, but the tethering does not.

I have an HP laptop running Windows 7 (64-bit) Premium.  I downloaded (and installed) the VZAccess Manager and it does not dinfd my phone either.

When I open the "devices and printers" screen it shows my phone as Samsung_Android and has an exclamation point icon on it.  So, I try the troubleshoot option: install driver with no luck.  My computer continues to say that there is no driver installed or one is not available.

The funny thing is that my computer recognizes the phone in "media player" and "mass storage" modes.  I have synced around 1400 songs from my computer to my phone through the USB cord.  I have selected the "mass storage" option on the phone and tmy computer installed the driver automatically.

I was using a rooted Droid Eris before I bought my Droid Charge and that worked fine when tethering via USB.  I guess I am saying that I don't believe it is me not knowing what I am doing or that it is my computer not being able to recognize the phone.

I am an auto mechanic (or was) so I understand troubleshooting, taking steps, and eliminating possibilities to get to a solution.

I am at the stage of asking for help because I have exhausted the possibilities I am familiar with.

Thanks for any help on this subject. (Among the many with ANY new phone.)

When I attached the USB cable, the phone created 2 drives.  ONE was the SD card and the other had the drivers on it - I got a message (windows 7) and installed the drivers.

Never mind, I had to not use VZAccess manager.  Under "Wireless & network" there's a tethering option in there.  It works great, and the drivers you need are on the phone.
