Unable to make or receive phone calls

Hi-

I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is some type of setting I might have changed by accident, or ???? But when I go to make a phone call the screen just turns black and I can't make or get any phone calls .  It has been like this for a few hours and now it says no service.  I paid the bill so before you ask 🙂  Can't text either.

Any help would be great!

Turn off the phone and take the battery out for awhile. Then see if you have service again

Definetly try the battery pull. If that does not work go to settings>About phone and look at the various statuses (signal strenght, service state, network, etc. and see if something does not look right and post here. Final resort go to you local verizon store and have them check it.

Since I got my Droid X, last Wednesday, I have not been able to make or receive calls about 80% of the time.  I even get "This number is no longer in service" messages from another cellphone provider (US Cellular) when I try to call my land line number from my home.  This never, and I mean never happened when I had my BB Storm 2, or any other cellphone for that matter.  I did two factory resets and numerous battery pulls ( I thought I was getting away from the battery pull issue when I stopped using my BB) - nothing had any affect, even with no apps added.  I spent 4-5 hours on the phone with tech support last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with no resolution.

 

I took the phone back and got a brand new one yesterday.  It worked at the Verizon store, but when I got home it went right back to not working.  I have not had an opportunity to drive around town to see if it works in other areas.  Is the real issue that the Droid X has a crappy radio that can't make or receive calls in areas that other phones can?  I reactivated my Storm 2 and made call after call from the exact same location without any problem.  Or is there some setting that I can change?  Tech support is clueless.  I really want this phone to work.
