Unable to save text message attachment

Hello!

I just got a Droid Bionic yesterday; this is quite new to me as I've been using a Krazor for the last five years. One of the things I wanted to retain on the new phone were my ringtones, and so I went to the website I had originally gotten them from and downloaded them to my new Droid. The tones come via a text message, which I received no problem. But when I try to save them, I get an error that tells me they can't be saved. This was very easy on my old phone -- Perhaps I'm missing something with the Droid. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks for your repsonse but that is what I was doing and it didn't save. Instead, I got a message saying "Error saving attachment." I get this message if I try saving it to the onboard storage or to the SD card.

Try "Download All Files" from Market and see if it helps.. when prompted to download it should give the app as a download manager..

Not sure that this will work..

Try Handcent and see if you can save it with that app.. Its free on market.

Maybe I'm just missing it, but I didn't see a "download all" option in the market. I wonder if they have something to do with how the text message / attachment is formatted. The thing is, the sounds will play just fine -- I can't save them to the phone.

The name of that app is "Download All Files" but now that you said you played file first... Try closing player first and then try or restart and then try because it should work as posted..

Thank you all for your responses. We appreciate your help.

@undeadrat,

I had the same thing happen with my Droid Bionic so I definitely understand what your going through. Just like you I love the ringtones on my phone and usually keep the same ones when upgrading to a new device.

This is a known issue with the Droid Bionic but rest assure that we're on top of it. A fix for this is under review and will be included in the first post launch maintenance release software for this device. Once the update becomes available it will be posted online. You can click here and check periodically for any software updates. Once an update is available there will be a link for software updates that you can click on for additional information and instructions on how it can be downloaded.

As a temporary work around you can use the VCast Tone application to purchase ringtones on your Droid Bionic. Below I have provided steps on how this can be done in case you are not familiar with the application on your device.

1. From a Home screen, select the App menu (located in the lower right).

2. Select V CAST Tones. If the application icon is missing, select App menu filter (located at the top) then select All apps.

3. Select Search (located at the bottom).

4. Enter an Artist or Title then select the corresponding button.

5. Select the preferred tune.

6. Select Buy for one of the following purchase options.

A. Both

B. Ringtone

C. Ringback Tone

7. Select Confirm.

8. Select Continue.

9. To set the new Ringtone / Ringback Tone as default for all callers, select Yes otherwise select No.

I hope this information has been helpful and appreciate your patience while we this issue is fixed.

Enjoy your new Droid Bionic!
