I do not know who has added the following to the Community postings:
Motorola Droid X.
If you do not take out time to learn your device, how can you blame the device to be the problem?
But, it’s not the device, it is not the hardware. It is the software. I am not a rooter; I’m not a computer geek; I’m not a software engineer. Why can’t I buy something like a computer, TV, a car or camera that works out of the box (or auto showroom)?
Why can’t I buy a Droid X that works without me knowing circuit boards and software? I want to charge my phone, turn it on and have it work without FCs, battery pulls (BPs?), waiting far too long to start and load apps (longer for widgets), network errors while trying to connect to the Android Market, unable to connect to YouTube, (don’t start, my laptop is connected to the internet and surfing quite well), becoming too hot to hold, shut down while connected to the computer and then hanging up on a auto restart, four hour battery life and on and on and on to infinity!
I have had my phone for four months and it has worked reasonably well (ergo, not a hardware issue) and the system software worked at an acceptable level. I could accept the occasional FCs, no BPs and ten hour battery life.
Since last Thursday’s (12/23) download of System version Version.2.3.340MB810.Verizon.en.US (it is sad that I know this by heart) I have had nothing but problems with the Droid X. The only app that I have downloaded (since System software update) is the Madden NFL 11. That reminds me, I need to leave and watch the Patriots move on to 13 – 2.
Bottom line- how do I uninstall System version Version.2.3.340MB810.Verizon.en.US and reinstall the previous systems software?
Sorry for the rant, but this is so frustrating,

Sorry that you took my signature personally, it is only something to consider useful information because majority of the post I have noticed having issues ended up being a person complaining about a function that they never researched to learn that the answer is in there owners manual.
Now with this said, if you read more information on my post other than my signature area you would have seen that I have reported that a number of user having issues is usually having issues do to preinstalled apps at the time the OS upgrade was done and I have informed users to hard reset before doing a OS upgrade because the upgrade modifies and deletes files that applications preinstalled usually uses to function and with this change the software malfunctions and causes issues, also the update was tested on a clear image and the 3rd party applications hasn't been verified because the apps isn't included into Motorola's or Verizon's support level.
Now you have two options:
1. Hard Reset
2. Uninstall and reinstall any 3rd party apps you have installed to verify a clean install.
Oh Yeah, You cant uninstall a update because of the same reason I pointed out the data is modified and deleted during update process that cant be reversed..

How can I take someone with no user name seriously when they are on a forum that requires a username in order to post.....

Strange???? Didnt even notice that... Thats just as strange as a user that never posted or view post sending me a PM to check a post that went to a dummy Verizon (Site was outside Verizons Server address) webpage requesting a login, looks like the forum has a number of trollers and phishers, I am going to have to pay attention to this more because strange things like that can be dangerous for some users.

Here Here! This was fuinally a phone that I believed would now be a long term one for me. All was great and as much as I wanted to root I liked the droid x so much I wanted to keep it clean. I added no new software and once this supposed much needed update random reboots and shutdowns and now I am waiting for an update to fix this last update. HOW RIDICULOUS IS THAT!!!
I'm just saying

I am in the same situation and this is my second "X". The first one went to h&*$ after the intitial Froyo upgrade- shutting down, dropping calls, etc, so Verizon replaced it, and then there was the second "fix", and now this phone is worse than before! Such a comfort to know that we have one of the "highest rated" devices around, which now drops every other call, has terrible sound quality, freezes up and/or shuts down randomly several times a day. One is left wondering if things would have been different had there not been the constant clamoring for Froyo from those who wanted to "keep up" with the other companies? Motorola rushed the software out and we're left holding the "brick"(and no, I haven't overloaded my phone with apps/games and don't have any third-party apps from sources other than Verizon).
Oh, and I am also having the problem others are experiencing with the duplicate e-mails and messages- and that just began within the past few days. A New Year's bonus, I guess.....

Same problem here. Since the update my Droid X has been rebooting several times a day, at a minimum. I've reset several times. I requested a replacement phone but it did the same thing. In both cases I started seeing reboots before 3rd-party apps were installed.
This is so frustrating. I don't want to keep spending an hour on the phone with Verizon to request yet another phone which is likely to do the same thing.
If Verizon can not fix the problem or correct it with a replacement phone then they should allow me to revert to the previous version of their software, which worked fine for me.
This post has almost 500 views- at least I know I'm not alone. After over six years with Verizon, this issue has me ready to move on.

This person is absolutely right. I got a Droid X just before Christmas and was happy with its performance except for the on screen keyboard. I made a HUGE mistake in "upgrading" to android 2.3 around March. My droid X crashed every day,.and ran as hot as 114 degrees. The color scheme in android 2.3 is HIDEOUS!!! Verizon sent me a refurb phone and new battery. The refurb was even worse. It would crash without warning, reboot when turned off after 10 to 17 minutes, lock up randomly, and the colors were hideous. The on screen keyboard is worthless. Cursor placement is extremely frustrating because the text window shrinks when I attempt to move the cursor up or down. Android 2.2 Froyo was EXTREMELY stable and the colors were easy on the eyes. Gingerbread is an abominable {word filter avoidance} Who was the blithering idiot who came up with a gray on gray text or e-mail color scheme???? The user manual says nothing about changing colors. Nothing online about changing colors. Verizon sent me a second replacement phone (this is my third phone) and it is almost as bad as the second phone. It crashes about once a day, it locks up to where I have to pull the battery, and it goes into airplane mode. I have had it with android 2.3!! I am ready to go back to my LG ENV, which has a real 5 row keyboard, and it has stability. The ENV had up and down keys so errors were easy to fix. Except for the keyboard, I loved my Froyo Droid X. It never crashed. It streamed music to my car. Verizon says there is no way to go back to Froyo. I will NOT put up with this piece of c*&p gingerbread.
