Uninstalling Swype
bestpersonever

The version of Swype installed in the latest firmware is a) old and b) has known bugs that are fixed in the latest version of Swype.  I DO have a Swype beta key, but due to the way it is installed in the firmware I cannot install the latest beta version of Swype (it's installed in /SYSTEM/, which cannot be modified without rooting my phone and voiding my warranty).

If I were to take the phone into a Verizon store, would someone there be able to uninstall Swype for me without voiding my warranty?  If not, when the Q3 Gingerbread update hits, will there be an option to install the update without installing Swype?

People at the store can't uninstall swype either. The only way to uninstall it is to do things that will violate your terms of service and the details of those can't be discussed here.

There have been some leaked versions of the Gingerbread update found in the wild, but I don't know if anyone has talked about there being an updated swype implementation.

Sorry
