My phone updated to 4.5.602 and for the first few hours it was fine. Ran my Weather Channel app and it froze everyrime I ran it. So I rebooted the phone. Then the phone came back up and said "The SD Card is blank or has unsupported filesystem". I have a backup, so I told it to reformat it... Doesn't work... Doesn't appear to do anything when I tell it to format the SD Card. Something with this update seems to have gone wrong.
Any one else have this issue? What can I do?
Thanks!

This doesn't appear to be related to the upgrade to my phone. It appears that my SD card truely went bad. Hooked it up to my PC and it could not read it or format it either. I have never had one of these go bad before...

It happens. Just get it out of your phone before it causes more problems. And be thankful you have a backup

Hi cbjhckyfan61,
I am sorry to learn of the problem with the SD Card. I had a similar issue with my SC Card of which the data stored was wanted back. I went to this link as it provided me with tips for helping me recover my data. Even though backing up your SD Card is a good practice, there are things that can be tried to reclaim the data if possible if possible with the helpful tips and advice. I hope the suggestions provided by the link can help you and others with SD Card issues where the data would like to be recovered.

That's not related to the 4.5.602 upgrade. I had that happen before the upgrade came out and Verizon actually wouldn't replace the card. I have since bought a new SD card of my own choosing (PNY) and my phone is starting to show the same symptoms that I had prior to getting the message that the card was blank or had an unsupported filesystem. I've read elsewhere about problems with the phone potentially causing the SD card to go back, and I'm starting to wonder if this actually is the case and its not that customers have been given crappy SD cards by VZW and Motorola. I'd like to enjoy my phone, but part of that involves using the camera occasionally. If I can't even take pictures because the phone won't save them to the card (if I reboot the phone the problem disappears temporarily), then its pointless to have a camera on the phone. I also understood that awhile back the problems were with Froyo and that the original update to Gingerbread was to have fixed this - apparently not. I love my Droid X, but the problems are starting to show up left and right now since the 2 updates were done....I love Android, but I'm seriously wondering if I just need to go back to the iPhone....atleast it didn't give me fits and cause me to have to reboot and pop the battery all the time

I just upgraded my Droid X with the 4.5.602 software, and am now having the same problem with my SD card. Is this related to the upgrade or no?

no its not - the problem has been there since before the update was released. I had my SD card go back less than a week before the update and VZW tell me its my problem. But the new card that I bought as a replacement is showing some signs of headed towards corruption, so I'm thinking the problem is with the phone itself. 2 cards going bad or just about to go back in less than a month is not likely unless there are other problems

So last night I rebooted my phone (as has become the norm lately) and when it came back on, the phone told me that the SD card was damaged and I needed to reformat. Are you freakin serious? This is a brand new card and now less than 2 weeks after I bought it, the phone has apparently done something to the card to 'damage' it. yeah I know cards can go bad, but 2 different makes of SD cards failing within a month? There is something wrong here. I ended up reformatting the card, and in the process lost several pictures of some classic Coupe De Villes (which thankfully are on a friends FB) that I had taken, so we shall see what happens going forward. I'd really had to think that come soon I will end up having to purchase yet ANOTHER SD card. I think the phone does need to be factory reset so I'll do that this weekend and go from there. Just tired of this (hint hint VZW) having a phone that everytime I turn around there is another problem or the same problem that keeps repeating itself.....I hate to say it, but I miss my iPhone

@keiffers I can definitely understand your frustration. Have your performed the master reset on the device? If you have and the issue is still persistent please PM me your number and I can see what other options we have for you. Hope this helps. Thanks.

The SD card problem is fixed....for now (knock on wood). But yes I have done reset after reset after reset but I'm not resetting my phone anymore. I'm tired of a factory reset being the only answer that support gives. Most of us who have a Droid X know what we are doing and we know like the back of our hand how to do a factory reset. I know I know, it fixes alot of the problems, but the last one I did fixed a few problems but brought back others. I still have minor problems, but the big one that still bugs the crud out of me is the 3G/1X problem. I thought I fixed it last week by getting rid of ATK as once I removed that, it stayed in 3G consistently, but then not even 5 hrs later it started dropping into 1X regularly. I can understand it being in my office, around computers and wireless computer networks and the interferrence there might be there, but when I am at home, where it never had a problem before it is suddently an issue there and I can sit there and watch the phone bounce back and forth from 3G to 1X without even moving the phone. I've done the *228 updates (3 times in one day actually!) and seems the PRL is at its newest for my area.
My other problems are listed in my various posts on the fourm (I'm not listing them out again!) which you can surely find without a problem. Last time I listed them out, the VZW people were more interested in modifying my post because of their assumption of what an abbreviation meant, instead of looking at the various problems that I listed out that I have been experiencing. That's neither here nor there at this point.
Bottom line is that the update should never have come out....it caused far too many problems and VZW & Motorola really should have fixed the issues better. If there are further concerns, I'll let you folks contact me. I'm done contacting VZW people

had the same problem with the system update. Only has happend once though. Recieved the same message, tried rebooting..took the battery out etc...nothing worked..last resort was to taske the SD card out and place back in and that did the trick. has not happend since
