Upgrading to the Droid X

In 33 days (not that I'm counting) I'll be eligible to upgrade phones. Currently using the BB Storm (don't laugh) and seriously considering the Droid X. I've been to three different Verizon stores and at each, the salesperson said nothing particularly bad about the X, but they all tried to direct me to something else - not always something higher in price or for some other incentive. Just wondering why the X is not being pushed? Is it detrimental for Verizon to sell the Droid X? Are the sales staff getting incentives for other phones? Or is there something wrong with the X that I'm not reading online?

The Incredible and Fascinate are BOGO, buy one get one, both are pretty similar, but the X does beat them in one or two areas. My local store loved my X, the said the didnt push them as much because the almost never had on hand despite have 3 on demo.

I love my X, but I would have bought a Fasinate or Incredible if the deals were around when I bought my phone.

The Droid X might not have been pushed because it pretty much sells it's self. Also phones like the Incredible and the Fascinate are not selling very well as the BOGO offer suggests. As someone bought an Incredible, then changed order to Droid X, I can say the Droid X has much better material craftsmanship.

Check out all the phones for yourself before you decide. Oh also keep in mind you can get a factory refurbished Droid X for $150.

I agree, I believe they are pushing other devices that has not been moving as well, from what has been reported Verizon was expecting the Droid 2 and Fascinate to move better than the Droid X and it really didnt happen, so now they are probally sitting on a large stock of those devices that they have to move to make any profit. Plus I also have ceme to the concept that when a new exclusive device comes out that the previous device get treated like a stepchild :smileyhappy: . Completely overlooked..

In defense of the X, I have never seen an iPhone pushed at an ATT store. An ATT salesman actually sold someone I know from their old iPhone to a Capitivate, which is somewhat neglected.

I've had this phone for 1 month now, here are my likes and dislikes of the phone, don't expect the camera and video cam to work top notch because it isn't at all what I hoped it to be, you would probably find a better phone in the Sony erricson Xperia. But the apps work well, it's a big brick of a phone and if you add a case to it, it's even bigger, my friends all say, "it's a very manly phone cause it's so huge!" so be forewarned, 2.1 Android is awesomeness, no kinks at all and some are just minor stuff, easily ignorable, I've decided to hold off my upgrade for the 2.2 until they come up with another release, theres alot of problems with it, and once you upgrade it to 2.2, you wont be able to go back unless you root it. It's just gonna cause you headaches you don't need, if you just use a little patience and wait for the release, you'll do just fine. The sound is great and the built in navigator is spot on the money. The battery life is admirable, if your going to use alot of apps, just bring the usb cord with you or buy a new one, there like 10$ and you can charge it on any usb outlet that has power like a labtop, computer, even some car stereos come with a USB outlet like mine so think of the possibilities. Anyhow, hope this helps you decide.

I've had the phone for about a month now and my only complaints are...

Short battery life.

I bought an external laptop battery pack (13200mAh) to augment the internal battery (1540mAh) instead of buying a replacement extended battery (1750mAh). The external battery is huge, but it can power my laptop or any other device like a camera via USB port.

The camera does not live up to expecations, it's not a true 8MP camera like it says on paper and it doesn't record 720P HD videos all that well. (My opinion)

Otherwise it is fairly impressive high-end smart phone.

You are making a good decision, I am very happy with my device, I have had nice battery life with using the extended battery, as long you do not leave a number of apps running in background, turn off wifi and bluetooth when not in use and only use basic gps settings when not using your battery should be noticeably improved.

The camera isn't perfect but under the right light pictures can be incredible but taking good photos in low light can take some practice but once you figure out what works for you the camera can do some nice shots as well under any situation, I am not disappointed in the camera quality because I realize that the megapixel isn't what makes up the qualification of being 720p and also not really the quality either, any video that carries the resolution of 1280×720 or 1366 x 768 at 16x9 aspect can be classified as 720p and also progressive scan technology wasn't extremely as clear as a interlaced (1080i) any way because only sections of video is scanned and rendered at one time but in my opinion the video quality of videos isn't that bad. Take it for what its worth but its a phone not a true camera but I am happy and not complaining.

Thanks for the replies y'all (yeah, I'm in the South). I believe there is no 'perfect' phone (although my boss thinks his iPhone is). So the X doesn't have the greatest camera, but I'm not a big picture taker, and I'm used to crappy cameras (remember...I'm currently using the BB Storm. The camera froze up on me tonight as I was taking some pics of a beach sunset tonight.) I like the large size of the X, and I'm looking forward to things like Swype and voice-to-text.

Thanks again for the comments, opinions, and advice. I look forward to reading more, especially after I get the X.
