I have a droid HTC incredible that i deactivated last november. I was wondering if I could use the wifi on it. I have tried but for some reason the wifi keeps turning right off!
Yes you can. I would suggest first putting the phone in airplane mode and then turning on the Wifi radio. I would check the Wifi settings to verify that the Wifi network you want to connect to is stored in the phone. If not you can add it.
Also if you have done or ever do a factory reset after service disconnect the phone will have to be reactivated on an active vzw number to function in any capacity
Really?! It can't be used on Wi-Fi only, similar to an iPod Touch?
You can skip the activation on a deactivated phone after a factory reset. I have done it at least twice on my old DROID Eris.

The 3G only phones will still have the phone number attached to it if you factory reset your deactivated phone. My Eris still has the last phone number assigned to it and I have modded it since it was deactivated. I haven't tried it, but I think I can still call 911 with it.
So if i have a different phone now with the same number i used on my droid then will i still be able to use the wifi or is this why the phone is not working?
you should still be able to use it on wifi (the old incredible). i used mine for months like that. i never factory reset it though, which is what the post above was about. it should work. i suspect something is messed up in the wifi settings. does it connect and then drop? or does it not connect at all?
yes it connects for like a second and then drops
i'm stumped. it should work. if you get a chance, try to connect to a different wifi network to see if it sticks there.
what would happen if i did a factory reset to my phone and how would i do it
You can still do it you just need to know how to bypass the activation screen. Some you have to touch all corners of the welcome to android and some have different procedures.
So because i am not phone smart at all. In simple instructions how would I factory reset my phone?
Here are the Instructions to do a Factory Reset: F. C. : Enjoy b33 :smileyhappy:
Performing a hard reset will remove ALL data including the Google account, system data, application data, application settings and downloaded applications. Only perform this reset if absolutely necessary.
When attempting to determine if a 3rd party application is the cause of an operating system / application issue on a device that does not support Automatic Restore, skip the Google Account setup during the initial setup of the device.

Hi!
Does anyone know if a deactivated Droid Incredible be used like an iPod - for music, apps, games, web browsing? My guess is that the only things a deactivated DI cannot be used for would be calls and texts, i.e., it cannot be used for anything that is provided by Verizon or a similar telecom service provider, correct?
Appreciated!
