Use Wifi on Deactivated phone?

I have a droid HTC incredible that i deactivated last november. I was wondering if I could use the wifi on it. I have tried but for some reason the wifi keeps turning right off!

In that case, I would suggest a factory reset to remove any of your personal information from the phone. You might want to consider a separate Gmail account for her instead of your Gmail account on the phone as the main account.

Got it...doing a factory reset after deactivating phone service on this device should be OK, right?  I've seen this thread and others which discuss resolutions if there are problems setting up wifi on a deactivated device.
