I found that if I went to the galley, I could select photos and videos to playback to the tv.
One more example of trial and error due to bad documentation.

I don't see a problem with the manual. They are other ways to display the video, but that does that mean the manual is incorrect. Whenever you connect the cable, you have to let the phone know what you want it to do. Think of your DROID X as a ROBOT. It does whatever you want it to you do!!!

I tried to use my new HDMI cable and pictures and video from the galley and there was no wizard, but when I clicked on the HDMI symbol on some of the pictures, the TV flashed brightly and the Droid X turned into a controller but it didn't work -

There is not wizard to use HDMI, all you have to do is plug it in and open default gallery (Wont work with others) and play item and then you will see a HDMI in upper right corner and when you click HDMI it will transfer image to TV and device will turn into a player control..

I bought the cable to try out HDMI playback. According to the "manual" on page 21, you start an application called home sync wizard. There is no such wizard.

Did you figure things out with the issue? The wizard is for the DLNA option that allows connections wirelessly with a supported device.
