I'm on my 3rd Droid in less than 1 year. I guess my memory isn't as good as some because when the 3rd phone came I thought I knew the drill: They send you just the phone so you need your battery and back cover. Then you send the defective phone back to them.
So Today I went to take a picture and it said it insert a smart card first. HUH? I don't remember any smart cards. It turns out it's above the battery and accessable after you remove the battery. I forgot to take mine out of the defective phone (I forgot I even had a smart card). So I called Verizon since the defective phone is in the mail, and asked for it back.
Sorry, not possible I was told but they would sell me another one for $80. Not possible? Hardly. Not profitable? I guess it would cost them some time and time is money. I wonder if they have a barrel full of these cards from dummies like me who forgot about them when they returned their Motorola junk? I wonder if they resell these?
I'll remember this when my contract is up. The only reason I use Verizon is because the reception was bad in my house with someone else. I just moved to Florida. Verizon, your short term gain will be a long term loss for you.

You would think that Verizon would be able to send your card back to you, in the name of customer service (like the Allstate Gramma's CD commercial.) They know WHO the phone belonged to. However, I think they are overloaded with defective phones, wiping them off and sending them out to the people who just returned a defective unit. And BTW, one of my CLN phones still had dirt/dust inside so they don't always wipe them off. You might try calling support and see if you get one of the many really nice techs who will honestly try to help you.

I correct my statement: "........ who just returned a defective unit" to "who are waiting to return a defective unit."
