To the management of Verizon Wireless -
I just love the way you make existing customers log in TWICE if they are looking to preorder the Droid Razr. That really makes me feel confident in the preordering system.
I also love the way you TAKE AWAY EMPLOYEE'S DISCOUNT to preorder the Droid Razr. You flash the screen up showing the discounted price, then flash another screen up to make us choose if we are a new or existing customer (Remember, I have ALREADY LOGGED INTO MY VERIZON). Then make us log in again, and after that you show a BIG PAGE THAT DISCOUNTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE ON THIS ORDER!!!!!
Do you really want us to stay with you as our cell phone carrier?
Do you really want our business?
Do you honestly think that other carriers do not give discounts to me because of where I am employed?
Or is your stance that since you got a bounce of new customers because you now carry the iPhone, your LOYAL customers can go jump in the lake?
This is interesting. Just plan interesting.

My wife gets a discount because of where she is employed, but this only aplies to the basic plans and the data plans, not the price of the phone.
Are you sure Verizon is not talking about VZW employees and not corp discounts? I once heard that Verizon employees weren't able to get their employee discount on new phone releases for at least the first couple weeks.
Just guessing here however.....

I've NEVER heard of an employee discount being applied to an actual phone itself. Usually its just the calling plan and accessories....my corporate discount with my employer allows me 19% off of monthly calling plans or 25% off of accessories, but it has never been off the phone itself. I think you may have misunderstood what the discount applies to, since regular customers who are NOT an actual Verizon employee (or any other carrier for that matter) don't get a discount on the actual phone unit itself - its unheard of, considering how much of a discount they already give off of the standard retail price - its not $199 because that's what the phone maker lists it as retail cost (retail cost is probably more along the lines of $600-700, but what you are getting is a 'subsidized price' set by the carrier as they're gonna make the money back from you over the span of a 2 yr agreement
Even if you goto AT&T or T-Mobile or Sprint, I seriously doubt they are going to discount the phone any more than what they offer to a new customer....just won't happen

Just because you haven't heard of them offering discounts on phones doesn't mean they don't do it.
When you login on this page:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/employee-discounts-email-authentication.shtml
Or call Telesales at this number:
1 (800) 696 3950
You can see your corporate pricing for devices as well as accessories. This is also often referred to as the B2B contact line. I have been getting corporate pricing for devices, my bill, and accessories since 2003. Usually they allow you to use your employee pricing as well as your NE2 credit (which is now gone if you upgraded after they did away with the program) so for instance my Thunderbolt was $299 - $100 NE2 - $40 bucks - on a 1 YEAR PLAN for Corporate pricing. If I did 2-years it was $70 off instead of $40. Regular customers were not able to get 1 YEAR PLANS (1yr is now gone).
So the discount is definitely available if you know where to look.

To reply to everyone
The discounts on the phones is something I noticed when the Bionic went on sale. When I bought my Droid X when it first came out, there was no discount. When I bought my wife her Droid 2 Global, there was no discount. Only when the Bionic went on sale, when I am logged into My Verizon, the price on the phones are $50 less than the listed price. I have always had the discount on plans and accessories since I have been with Verizon.
Actually I would not have had a problem with no discounts, if the phone selector page did not briefly popup showing the discount, before the big white page saying that there would be no discount on the order. I checked a couple of hours later, and the correct sequence of pages came up, no big white page saying no discounts, and it does show a discount now.
I have no desire to leave Verizon. No one else has the coverage in the places that I have to travel, and no one has the 4g coverage at my work or my home. The questions I asked on my original post, were just retorical questions, blowing off a little steam, and just a little unhappy with the ordering system that was obviously not working correctly. I do understand that if I have inactivity, I would have to log in again, but to go from the first page of My Verizon, to update my device, and then have a page popup asking if I was an existing customer just got to me a little.
No I am not upset with the ones that have stated they have not seen the discount on phones, because until the Bionic, I did not see a discount on phones either. So unless you have seen it, you would not have known.
So the online ordering system is back to its old workflow and all is right with the world.
and yes, I know that high volume of traffic could have caused the problem. I test websites and applications at my work, so having a higher than expected load can do funny things..... it just doesn't feel good when it happens to you because you know that the ordering system is not as robust as it should be. Verizon should have figured that out after the Droid X ordering problems many people had when it first came out.
Have a good day all........
