Verizon vs. the others

I keep reading these post about people claiming that they will run to AT&T or Sprint when their contract is up.

I have been with AT&T and Sprint within the last 5 years. I have been with Verizon a little over a year.

I have to say that Sprint may well be the worst company that I have ever used for any service. My wife and I had the Samsung Instinct (off subject, but worst phone in modern age). We had serious issues with our phone starting day one. We both churned through 6 of their phones a piece.

After the last replacement they told us they would not send us out another phone even under warranty. They said we could deal with the phone or we could pay the ETF and leave. I got a corporate lawyer on retainer to get us out of it because they would not honor their warranty.

Along with other issues with reception we were happy to leave.

AT&T gave us similar crap... to make a long story short, they gave us a month notice that we were kicked off our plan for roaming too much. I am happy to be here only paying $5 more a month than I did at Sprint and around $10 less than I did at AT&T.

Take a look around if you wish, and you probably will be happy the first couple of months with a new phone...

I am happy the way Verizon has handled my issues with this phone. They have never questioned if I was lying when I call in to support, and they get me a phone out very quickly. I know not everyone is happy, but some people are impossible to satisfy.

Good luck to everyone.

My husband & I have been with Verizon for about 5 1/2 years now.  We have always been very pleased with their customer service & phones.   Customer service has always gone above & beyond to make us happy, we've never had to return a phone (knock on wood!), and we get coverage everywhere we go.  Sure, there may be better plans, prices & even phones out there, but you can't put a price on customer service.

I read news article online a few months ago. It said that Sprint was number 3 has a provider with the most customers. AT&T was second and Verizon was number 1. I laughed at this. In my eyes Sprint IS one of the worst providers. Sprint service is absolutely horrible in my city. I constantly got dropped calls to the point where I could not stay on the phone within a second of it disconnecting. Even after 2 years of being with Sprint the service never improved at all. I think that Sprint has some awesome phones to offer like the HTC Evo,but what good is a phone to be if I get no service on it & am limited to features on it?

About AT&T, their service was better then Sprint's I admit. The service still had it's weak points. My service was cut off with no notification at all. I got treated very poorly as a customer, like I did not matter. Customer care was a joke. When I called in for support on my device, most all customer agents had no clue what device I was using when it was one of their products. Now I can see why AT&T was dead last in consumer reports!!

I have been a Verizon customer for a very long time now. The service is great. I have never had any problems like I did with other service providers. Now that is GOOD quality service.

About a week or 2 ago I got my driving license. After a night of my friends drinking (no I was not drinking!) I had to drive my friend home whom lives out in the sticks. I did land up getting lost on my way back home. My other buddy whom had AT&T had no service on his phone. Go figure, right? Lucky I had service on my phone!! I called my dad for some help on getting me back home (what roads to take & such).  I got home safely. Thank you Verizon for helping out!!  Without being able to get a hold of my dad I would've probably been stuck somewhere.

I completely agree with all of you.. Consumer reports is something I truly ready all the time and go by when it comes to purchasing just about anything from cars to gizmos and so on. I have been with Verizon for over 10 years and of course there have been dropped calls what cell phone company has let you down. However, I have never had poor customer service when it comes to replacing a lost or stolen phone or one that just doesn't work. Actually, they are very quick about responding and getting a Referb or new out to you ASAP. I know many friends that go through Sprint and have jumped around from T-mobile, AT&T and all have had problems with any of the them. Especially where I live and have to drive, cell phone service can drop off the map and earth for that matter. And guess what service is still available even out in the middle of no where... Verizon.. Of course its all a full set of bars why would it be... but at least there is some service. Everyone could sit here and pick apart each company and find better deals, but when it comes down to it.. Service, customer service, and plans are always a problem...lets move on..

I don't have really problems with T-mobile right now (knock on wood) so can't say the service is bad. With Sprint when I had an issue I would call into customer care. Every time I would call in I would get someone I couldn't understand!  Their accent would be horrible. It got so bad that I hung up on the representatives. That led me to just contacting customer care by email or chat only!

I was going to start with att back in the 90,s but they wanted me to fork over $700 deposit to join their club. I went to sprint, this was right before vzw, they only wanted $100 to join. I was with them for about 2.5 years until I noticed they were double billing me. I would not get my bill till 12 or so days after it was due. I called one day and they told me that my bill was due on the 19th, I asked ok now how much is it going to be on the 19th? They said yet to be determined, I said how can I pay if you don't give me a bill till after the due.date? They're said your problem.

Just a footnote, sprint still owes me my deposit money that they said they gave back to me two months before I gave the deposit to them.

Those deposits must be before my time, but they still have bent me over several times. I will stick by Verizon until it gets worse than I have had... and they have a lot of room.

After reading your post have to agree with you on sprint, not sure about ATT as I have never had their service, but can't agree with version support as being any better.  I have only been with version since they bought out Alltel and have had no pleasant experiences with dealing with cust. support.  sure Alltel wasn't perfect but really wish had them back.

Verizon is starting to make people mad with their deals with bing (microsoft) and leaving droid eris owners in the dust (no 2.2 update)
