i just noticed under the "details" of the videos i've taken on my incredible, that the type of file is "video/3gpp".....the extensions are .3gp.....what kind of video files are these and does anyone know if they are compatible with anything? i've just noticed that when i send a video message to another phone it seems to work....but when i try to email or message them to facebook, they never show up. on my old phones they have always been mp4's???? anyone out there know much about video files, and if i can change the way the phone saves them (as in....to an mp4 file format)????

This is the format that most low end cell phones use.  You can and should change the format in which it records.  It should available in your settings when you open the camera function.  You should also make sure all the resolutions are maxed out.  There's no point in having a great lense to take low quality pics and vids.

in my settings it says "encoding type: mpeg4." but when i look at the details of the file (after i record a clip) it says "file type: video/3gpp." now i'm not a techy guy....but that doesn't seem to make sense to me? i would think the extension would be mp4?

i switch the resolution depending on what i want to do. the cams in these things today are unreal.....but if i just want to pixt or send a video message, then i have to turn the res down or the file sizes are huge....lol. it's great to have an 8 mp cam, but tough to send the files.
