Voice Quality

My customers and friends tell me that the voice quality of my calls has diminished since I switched from AT&T (IPhone, lots of dropped calls) to Verizon via the HTC Incredible.  I no longer have dropped calls, which is great, but the clarity of my voice as received by persons I call or who call me is not good.   Any solutions available?

There are "possible" solutions but they involve going into the advanced settings and I don't recall how to do that. Try searching the topic here as there are a BUNCH of threads on the subject from last summer (right after the phone was launched). I can tell u that it helped mine. I had to change something in advanced settings to cdma or something? It has to do with the technology that the towers in your area have as to whether or not it will work for you.

Try checking for phone system software updates manually:

Press HOME > MENU, then tap Settings.

Scroll down the screen, and then tap About phone > System updates.

Your phone checks for system software updates. If no update is available the message “Your system is currently up to date.” appears.

Then dial *228 send and option 2 on the device to update the PRL.

I have the same issue, I switched from the iPhone in August 2010, great no more dropped calls, but the audio quality does appear to be lacking on the HTC Incredible.

I posted this same question 2 months back, about 3 days after the forum posting I received a private e mail message on the forum from Verizon.

Here's the Verizon response I received.

Hi, my name is Casonia and I am a Verizon Wireless Representative. In reviewing your recent post, I do apologize for any problems that you have experienced with your device. The issue that you are experiencing is a known issue. Our technicians and htc are working diligently to resolve this issue. At this time there is no estimated time of resolution. As more information for a fix to resolve this issue becomes available, we will be sure to pass it along. Let me know if you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns regarding this issue.

Best Regards,

Casonia

At least Verizon appears to read their own forums, but as to the audio quality, no change

Verizon Customer service has been great to deal with, I have 2 new Incredible phones being shipped with the idea that will fix the problem.

I don't get home to Washington until 31 January, so I won't know the out come for another week or so.....

How to change the audio codec to EVRC-B:

Go to Phone and Dial ##778
Choose Edit Mode
Password is 000000
Go to CDMA Settings
Scroll all the way to bottom
Change Home Page, Home Orig, and Roam Orig from EVRC to EVRC-B
Hit Menu and Commit Changes
Phone reboots

FYI if you do not hear anything, this fix will not work in your area and you will need to change the setting back to EVRC.

thx budone. that was what i wanted to have them try, but couldn't remember how to do it. fyi, it did work for me, but like budone mentined, if you get NO signal after trying this, then you'll need to follow the same steps to switch it back as you must not be in an area that EVRC-B is supported.
