Voicemail activities after forced update today

After a forced update to my Droid X today, the notification for voicemail pops up every minute it seems. It says "Voicemail activities received couldn't contact voicemail server". Within the voicemail screen, if i go to the settings there's nothing to change the options for these notifications. I'm not even sure what they mean, just keeps popping up every minute. I don't get it. I knew when I saw this update downloading it was going to be a problem.

Any answers to this?

I called Verzion and they said they were having issues with their voicemail system.

I've had no Visual VM at all today. I did the software update this afternoon and it still doesnt work. I've restarted phone many times and it keeps saying "Signing In". Earlier I was getting updates that said something about voicemail activities failed or something. Not happy right now...

I never got to speak to a rep, but I did dig deeper on some of the droid forums. I was contemplating rooting and removing the vm all together because you can't get rid of the app just by installing. I went back into applications on the phone and not only did I uninstall, I also went into "running" and found voicemail. I did a force stop and I clearded data. I opened voicemail back up and signed up for the service again and voila. Fixed...

My first Droid X was replaced because I was constantly getting the Voicemail Activities Received notification several times a day and my phone would lock up. Now after about a month my second Droid X has started doing the same thing. It was done it 5 times today since I turned my phone on at 900 am. I've had to take the battery out and put it back in to get the phone to work properly. My roommate also has the DRoid X amd he hasn't had this problem.

What I recommend is that you do a Master Reset.  You can accomplish this by:

From the main screen, touch menu tab

  • Touch Settings
  • Touch Privacy
  • Touch Factory Data reset
  • Touch Reset Phone
  • Touch Erase Everything
Warning: This will erase all data from your phone, including:

  • Your Google account
  • System and application data and settings
  • Downloaded Applications

It will not erase: Current System software and bundled applications; SD Card files, such as music or Photos.

Please be sure to backup your contacts before attempting this method.
