Voicemail not playing in car bluetooth

When i get a voicemail on my phone and i'm driving,I go check the visual voicemail and press play, the sound only comes out through the phone...not the speakers in the car. For some reason, I have to put the speaker on, in order to listen to the visual voicemail or else put the phone to my ear. Every other phone i've had, plays fine through the bluetooth with the speakers in the car. Why doesn't the charge do the same??? I have an acura mdx--2010.

Bluetooth capabilities vary, depending on the manufacturer of the car, the phone being used, and the Bluetooth headset being used. I assume you already have a Bluetooth device you have been using, so I do not think that is the root cause of the issue. I went to Acura's website and searched under the model you mentioned in your posting (nice!), but unlike other manufacturer's websites, I was not able to find any information on the devices that are compatible.

You will find that some devices are compatible with some functions and others aren't. Please refer to your dealership for details on the compatibility of the Thunderbolt with your vehicle. I have already searched on www.acura.com and www.myacura.com with no luck. I am certain that your dealership will be able to assist you further.

I looked for you and it appears that the Charge is not listed yet. This happens with new devices because Hands free link takes the time to personally check these devices for compatibility. You can contact Hands free link at 888-528-7876 they are very helpful and can guide you through any questions you might have. Also if you are having an issue the relates the HFL in the vehicle they can refer you to a local Acura dealer for repair.

My personal feeling about your issue is that you are using the app to access your voice mail which is probably set up to us either the speaker or ear piece. If you go through the old method by calling in ( *86 ) or calling your mobile number and entering your password it will more than likely work that way. I how ever do not use the VZW voice mail and use Google Voice which I find to be way better and it's free.

edit / note : I looked up your vehicle as having navigation there is another option for none navigation models. Also I checked both the Thunderbolt and Charge since you posted in the Charge forum but are listed with a Thunderbolt. Neither are coming up in the lists due to them being newer devices but I have had both and I found the Thunderbolt to be vastly compatible compared to the barely compatible Charge.

It is a issue with the Visual Voicemail application. It has nothing to do with the bluetooth in any vehicle. If you call your voicemail, it works thru the bluetooth. If you try to get your messages via visual voicemail, it does not work. The APPLICATION needs to be fixed. Why all the spin on different manufacturers of vehicles etc???
