Just got my new Droid X, so far I love it, but am having trouble with a couple things. Ist thing, does anyone know how to keep the original size of a pic to use as wallpaper. Every time I select a photo for wallpaper, it makes me crop half of it away so that it moves as you slide the panels on the home screen. I just want an original photo with no sliding.

Unfortunately that is how the device is set up, there is not an option to not crop the wallpaper. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Hope this helps!

I noticed this as well, and I'm fine with the cropping. But I also noticed whenever I set a picture as a wallpaper it magnifies the size of the picture. Is there any way to correct this? Or am I doing something wrong?

I just joined the community...primarily because I'm having this same problem.
When I try to set one of my own Gallery pictures as wallpaper, I scale it so that I can see the whole picture, and then save it. But when it displays, the picture double/triples magnification, so only a blown up portion of the picture is visible on the screen. No matter what I try, this always happens. Happened with 2.1, and now with 2.2 also.
Help????

You can use Launcher Pro and within its settings it will allow you to set it up without wallpaper scrolling. You will have to google launcher pro on your phone and get the APK file (make sure you go into your phones settings and allow Unkown sources [non Market] in "Application Settings" before you download APK. Then change back afterwords). As of my last look it is not in the Market.
Otherwise if you edit the size of your photos to 960x854 (size for all seven home screens) on your computer's editing program, you should not have to crop your photo on the phone when setting wallpaper.

For anyone looking for a unique solution to this question, check out a app called MultiPicture Live Wallpapers, it allows you to have a diffrent wallpaper on each panel and you can app can resize photo to fit each panel, I also noticed that you can set a wallpaper for a panel and disable scrolling on Launcher Pro and the image will fit correctly and wont change but I love the transisons from panel to panel, it gives something extra... Now I just have to figure out my 5 panels images.

Gosh, Wildman, just how may apps do you have on that phone of yours?....Not necessarily the names, I'm just how many apps you are running and how many of them run in the background such as launcherpro? Not to mention, battery life??
I tried LauncherPro for some of the things you mentioned that it could do, but man, the options were overwhelming. So I un-installed it for the time being. Over the Christmas holidays, I'll have 3 or 4 days off, so I plan to re-format and re-install the OSs on all 3 of my computers, so while OSs and programs are re-loading, I'll certainly have time to play with LauncherPro on my phone.
Take care,

I have 2 devices, a everyday device and a tester unit, I can have a nice amount of apps at time, I have a number of forums that I research information for as well as I enjoy researching and experimenting with new developers work but once I find the ones I really like I will backup all my apps and settings and hard reset and reinstall my preferred choices.. Also I do not have a habit to suggest items until I see the performance side effects, I have extended battery and I can get close to a day and half of battery life even with all app my apps, this is why I stand behind Advance Task Killer
,it helps a lot. I guess that it can help that I have worked in the research and development field before
, you lose the fear of trying things new because you can miss out on some nice performance enhancements and customizations.

LauncherPro is the smoothest and nice app I have to date, and the customizing possibilities is incredible and the feature to backup LP settings and themes makes it nice to try different designs and then go back to a old design with just a few clicks, its way better than the stock Blur and I can live without it.
Take care,

I use the Geopix app to set my wallpaper pics. It uses the whole picture. I like it. You can find it in the market.
