I just got a Droid X from my sister last night. I called customer support and they helped me transfer my account. One thing I was wondering is why can't I connect to the 3g web serive? Currently I average 3-4 bars from all locations but it is only letting me use the web browser or play games connected to the web when I have a wifi network that I am connected to.
My old LG Voyager Titanium was able to connect to the internet at any time as long as I had a phone signal. I realize that I may not have turned a setting on properly, but after going through almost every relevant FAQ and menu on the phone I can't seem to find why it won't let me connect.
I have a 700 minute voice plan with unlimited data and texts messages. My plan is paid and up to date. I was able to connect and download some apps when I am connected to my wifi at home but as soon as I turn off the wifi settings I am unable to make any connection at all to the web, including the verizon wireless data tracking app.
Before I have to call customer support again can anybody help me figure out why my phone isn't connecting? I have already tried redialing *228 and tried both options. I have also tried taking out the battery and putting it back in. I saw somebody else got it working by turning airplane mode on and off but that didn't work for me.
Thanks for reading and please post something useful 😃

I called customer support and it turns out under the Data Manager settings my phone wasn't set to have Data Enabled yet. I checked the box when they told me to and restarted my phone. The 3G icon appeared at the top of the screen and it was working perfectly. Yay for verizon cs!
I still reccomend checking this site first =P

Yes, when I setup the phone I registered a new gmail account with it and I can access it from my droid x.

I think what you said sounds right. I have turned wifi off several times and when it is off it says I am not connected to any network and the pages for web browsing appear as web page not available.
I just turned it off again.
