There has been on occasion where I can only pull up the mobile site and not the full. There isn't a link on the bottom to switch over and I tried to type the site directly. I looked in my settings nothing jumped out. Is there something I am over looking or is it that the web designers for that particular site not the brightest bunch and don't realize what an android phone can do.

Some sites only allow use of the mobile site on some browsers, which browser are you using?
Give Opera Mobile a try.. It does well for me with full page sites..
