Website with User / Password?

For my job we have a website to monitor the status of the park and whenever you enter the site you must type in your user and password.  I know on my co-workers iphones they can enter the site fine, but on the droid it doesnt ask for a username or pass it just says the address is restricted with no pop ups to enter the info.  any idea how to fix this?

Without knowing how the website is set up, or what you may need in order to access the website, it is difficult to give an answer.  Maybe ask your IT department, what is required in order to access that site.  I dont think it would be an issue with the Droid itself, unless the site requires a plug-in that the Droid does not support. Someone in your IT department would be able to help you out.

May be a Java issue???  Not sure but just guessing as Java is widely used to access "systems" via web browser.  Might be something to ask your IT folks when you talk to them.

the message i get is

You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied because your web browser is sending a WWW-authenticate header field that the Web Server is not configured to accept.

HTTP Error 401.2 Unathorized: access is denied due to server configuration.  Internet Information Services.

The problem is its never asking for a user name or password in order for me to attempt to access the site.  My IT guy pretty much doesn't exist as he is completely clueless and doesn't really care about my cell access.  Would just be helpful to me is all, anyones input beyond this is much appreciated.  Thanks!

First, do you possibly need to enter HTTPS:// instead of http://  to access a secure site?

Second, there are alternative browsers available, Dolphin is on, and there is another one but I can not remember the name of it.

You might try one of the alternative browsers to see if it works to access your site.

You could try opera.  The problem is most likely that the park has a redirect for users of the network that sends you to the acceptance of terms agreement page, no matter which page you initially try to go to.  The Droid's browser probably sees that as a security vulnerability and won't let you be directed there.  You can have one of your friends give you the physical address for the login page they are directed to and try to type that into the browser.  I work beside a hospital and if I want to use their wireless from my psp, I have to type in the redirected page.

This may be a Linux issue.  Many things work well on Windows and Mac that just don't on Linux.  It is because things like Java and other things are basically the same but are a little different to work with the different OS'es.  There are some secure sites that I can't access from home or that don't work properly because I use Linux.  To me this is a problem with the site not an issue with Linux but many people see it differently.
