It's finally here.  Let's all hope it was worth the wait the bumbled way of handling the big announcement.

 

I think it was getting enough "free advertisement" by allowing a few leaks - just like dripping blood among a pool of sharks - to create a frenzy.

 

Let's just say, it got started badly for me.  VZW didn't start selling the D2 until 12am PST!!  Which is fine, if you are on the West  Coast...but I'm on the East Coast!  So, I had to wait another 3 hours.  (**bleep** me...I did)

 

Oh well - it will be here tomorrow, in all it's shining little glory.  Then, I'll know if it was worth it!

I ordered the D2 early this morning online, got the processed email but no ship info yet and getting the run around from VZW reps, different story from 3 different people. Meanwhile people that placed orders after me have received ship info and will have them tomorrow. 

 

I have been with VZW for well over 10 years and this is the worst customer service and disorganization i have seen so far from a release. Spend a lot of money with VZW for many years and can't get a straight answer anymore.

R2D2 version isn't available yet.  Believe that won't be released until September

I didn't get a shipment notification, but I called and they gave me the tracking number...so, I DO KNOW that the phone has left Mephis, TN!!

 

I agree - there seems to be confusion, although, I think it is purposed-confusion.  I think that VZW botched the release of Incredible (out of stock), DX (out of stock), and D2 (SO much leaked and unconfirmed information).  

 

then again...maybe that is exactly what they wanted?!?  It created a LOT of hype for a phone (D2) that was just slightly remodeled.   I may regret getting the D2 and will wind up wishing that I had waited.

ive played with the phone and even with 2.2 the x skips around this phone sticking its tongue out at it. i cant wait to see that gap widen even more when x gets 2,2
