When is Verizon going to fix the volume problem in the Droid X

Mine arrives Thursday. I played with the demo unit for a hour and know it has a volume problem. The store guy said a September update will fix it. The phone is a leap for me as a WinMo fan but it was fast and has lots of power computing.  I don't want to get it customized only to have a ROM update to just waste time customizing agian.

I have seen the 2.2 update and the sound is fixed. I am unwilling to alter my new phone with a beta release.

I probably won't use the phone till the update is out.....

Date please.......Thanks

Sounds like you already figured out the answer to your question, the volume issue has been reported to be fixed with 2.2 update and as for waiting to customize the device until update is released, that sounds like a good ideal for you because if the update is released as schelduled it will be out in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the reply,

Hate to be a winer but the leaked one seemed to work well so why the delay.....

I guess since I had to wait 3 weeks for the phone I could wait a couple till the update is out.....:smileyindifferent:

I've gotta say that mine (received on late July) doesn't seem to have any of the volume issues that many of the earlier X's seem to have.  The volume on calls, alarms, and media using the speaker is just fine.  You might want to check it out on your phone arriving on Thursday instead of waiting.

I would say that Verizon isn't any different than other carrier on releasing major updates, they usually commit to one device at a time for updates to try to minimize network and customer service traffic, since they are currently working on the Droid update issues and traffic to Froyo 2.2, they will not commit to dealing with a separate device.  But usually if first release goes smoothly with minimal issues, then a early release of update to next device is taken into consideration but what I have heard that their update did not go flawless and Verizon is dealing with those issues at this moment.

I'm also willing to wait fro the official OTA update to 2.2. ---  the Motorola site says the general release is "early September" ...  that's not that far away.
