Why do you load BLOATWARE on Droid Bionic

I just upgraded from the first generation Droid.  Great phone and a great product.  I did loose some functionality from the original droid.  I had access to the Navigation App on the original Droid for free.  I didn't use the Navigation APP unless I traveled.  Saved me from having to pack my GPS.  Not so with the Droid Bionic.  Verizon Navigator requires the user to pay for the service.  Since I am not interested in paying more than what I already pay, I want to remove the APP.  As a matter of fact I can not remove any of the Verizon APPS that I am not interested in paying an additional cost to use.  I am really upset with the fact that there is so much BLOATWARE on the Driod Bionic and I can not remove the APPS.  Having it on the phone without the intention of using it requires the updating to keep the annoying messages from showing up.  THIS IS WRONG.  I should be able to remove the apps that I don't want on the phone. You need to fix the issue with the bloat ware so as a user I can remove the APPS I am not interested in having on the phone.  The phone itself is great.  The thought process behind the bloat ware is CRAP!!!  You need to fix it or I can take my business elsewhere.

Hate to tell you but all carriers install software that you can not install because these apps are what keeps cost down, you reported you got device at a good cost but that wouldnt happen if the carrier did not have marketing apps such as the ones you want to remove...

This subject has been beat to death on the forum and it has been verified you can not have both worlds at this time, discounted devices and not marketing software because the developers pay to have their software installed on the device and due to this the carrier can adjust the cost of the equipment.

Now as for the statment about taking business to another company if this isnt changed, good luck on  locating a carrier that doesnt do this as a regular practice...  I wish you luck..

The Ice Cream Sandwich Update has this option in the OS but this update hasnt been released for your device and probally wont be released for some while...

Also you do know that Google Navigation is on the device and it is free and just as good as any GPS, if it isnt on the device you can install Google Maps and it will add the free Navigation application.

Then once Google Navigation is installed, it is a matter of setting Google Navigation as the default navigation application instead of VZ Navigator.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Wildman, Ann154, how do you do it?

If I HAD to do this for a job and was paid, maybe.

But, you folks answering these same questions and discussing the same topics that have been discussed again and again; usually involving the same whining and the same non-sense by an often disgruntled OP that often thinks their question is too important to use the SEARCH FUNCTION.........I tip my hat.

Your dedication to this forum is amazing.

Well, if you can't discuss things just because they have already been discussed by someone else on another thread, then there wouldn't be anything left to discuss.  So you might as well shut down this entire web site.

Can't? Who can't? Who doesn't? It happens all the time and my rant won't change anything.

My point was directed at those that still entertain and respond to the non-sense. I won't, except to make the comment I made.

Go ahead. Ask the same question, or make the same comment/complaint for the hundredth time.

The website should not be shut down because it serves a purpose. Redundant questions, comments and complaints are one negative aspect of it, but it happens in all forums.

I don't see any problem with a newbie asking a question that has already been asked and answered numerous times. As long as he properly names his thread, others can respond or skip right over it. No harm done. A responder can give an answer or tell him to do a search. No big deal.

I do too hate bloatware. Im glad the bionic has a TON of memory and this doesnt slow it down. But yeah im with ya. Kinda like when you buy a dell computer and it comes with that ugly dell dock and blatware that takes hours to remove. Except on a phone it cant be removed.
