The phone is a 4G LTE device and is a top of the line device.....I would like to interact with other Droid 4 owners to hear their experiences with their devices. I have to scour through other threads to find things. Are you listening Verizon?
Yes, can't think of a reason why they couldn't "automatically" make a group for new phones as they are released (and of course create them for those that they missed to date). There are lots of threads of the type "Where is the group for phone X"
(And this applies to any phone, not just "top of the line")
There wasn't a thread for the Droid3 either, it was a short lived phone. I hope that isn't the reason the Droid 4 doesn't have a thread. LOL, Verizon and Motorola will probably come out with a Razr HD based Droid 5 with a hardware keyboard just in time for the holiday season.
I've had two Droid 4 phones since August 4 and will be sending the 2nd phone back. The in call volume/earpiece on both phones was fine for the first few days, then took a dive. Very crackly (like a blown speaker). I'm upset that, after the 14 day period from purchase, Verizon no longer replaces defective phones with new phones. I will be receiving a "like new" phone. Verizon didn't offer to send me another Droid 4, so I'm wondering if there have been more complaints with this issue? The are replacing my Droid 4 with a refurbished Razr Maxx. I'm nervous about getting a phone without a physical keyboard. I really liked the Droid 4 when it was in working condition.
I'm with you DroidudeAZ, why isn't there a feed for Droid4 users?
Its funny...I went from a Razr Maxx to a Droid 4. The screen on the Razr Maxx is a little bigger and a LOT more vivid and the battery life is 2 + days easily on one charge. I had a hard time without a physical keyboard. The Razr Maxx was a great phone other than the lack of a physical keyboard. My Droid 4 has been great. ICS is awesome as an operating system.
The Droid 3 didn't have a thread because it was only on the market for 5 months....I hope they aren't going to discontinue the Droid 4, LOL
I have a droid 4 and posted my question on the droid 2 thread - how come the background on the ice cream sandwich is black with blue letters (for my contacts?)? I can't see it - and I want to change the colors - verizon support is useless
makes me want to switch to another carrier when my contract is up
does someone know how I can change the colors?
Not a very user-friendly screen with the color choices. It's especially hard to see when outdoors.
I seem to be getting along quite well with the virtual keyboard (probably since I'm forced to use it). I'm still perplexed as to why two Droid 4's failed for me. I was thinking maybe it's the location of the Sim card and SD card directly behind the ear piece. There ARE other forums out there with the same complaint. I'm glad you like the Droid 4 and it continues to work for you!
Wow Kropsmom. A crackly sound is definitely not how we want you to start out with a new phone. I'm glad we're already getting you a replacement phone. But don't worry so much about the Certified Like-New Replacement you receive after the first 14 days. They go through pretty extreme testing to make sure they're just as good if not better than a new phone. And it's pretty rare that we'll replace a phone with a different model, but if yours was out of stock, we'll do what we need to in order to get you a working phone in your hands as soon as possible, even if that means sending a similar phone. I know you're concerned about having a virtual keyboard. I was too. But the screen on the Razr Maxx is pretty sweet. Not to mention you can tap the little microphone icon on the bottom left corner of the keyboard and then speak what you want to text instead of even physically typing it. Here's a link to our support page for the Razr Maxx with some great tips, tricks, how-to guides, FAQs, etc to help you get used to the new device: http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/index.html?p=5844&m=
I was wondering the exact same thing, DdAZ. At first I thought I was doing something wrong... not searching in the correct place or some such. Then when I saw that there IS NO DROID 4 DEVICE to choose from when you search within the Verizon Community, I knew it was not my screw-up, but Verizon's.
Also, I wholeheartedly disagree with the response from the Verizon rep who vouched for the refurbished phones. I always carry the insurance because of the type of work that I do... there is risk of damage, drop from heights, that sort of thing. On the two occasions in the past ten years that I've had to use my insurance to get a "refurbished" replacement phone, they were both total pieces of junk which forced me to purchase NEW phones before I otherwise would have had to (pretty much immediately after I rcv'd the "refurbished" devices). That has often made me wonder if that was all part of Verizon's plan to begin with. There should be an insurance plan that stipulates that if you have to get a replacement device, it will be NEW. I would *HAPPILY* pay more for that insurance.
Anyhow, I'm having an issue w/my Droid4 and posted a question under "Android" because I couldn't find an appropriate place, but it seems that we're posting under DROID & DROID 2, so if I can't move the post, I'll re-post my question here.
Community Manager lboogie852) regarding why we don't have a Community section for the DROID 4.
Cheers!
Many thanks and kind regards,

There are several phones that don't have their own sections in the community, for whatever reason. A lot of folks then post those threads under Android.
Please be aware that if you don't move your other thread, you should simply reference (i.e., post the link) it here, not re-post ... cross-posting threads/posts is against the forum's Terms of Service.
Roger that tikibar1, and thank you for reminding me that cross-posting is against TOS.
Appreciate your help and comments.
I found a Space called, "Suggestions for this Community" (link below), which apparently is exactly the place where we should make requests and suggestions such as this.
So I created a thread titled, "When will a Forum "Space" be Created for the DROID 4?" (link below). The response I received was not favorable. In short, I was informed by a CommunityLeader that the DROID 4 does not "need" its own Space... I noted by viewing her profile that she does not own a DROID 4 (nor has she ever owned any DROID device). I responded to her, explaining from my own point of view exactly why we either need our own or need to be added to one, but it may well help our cause if you all responded to the thread indicating our need for either our own Space or for the DROID 4 to be added to the DROID / DROID 2 Space.
Thanks and kindest regards,

Oh, and P.S.: In my travels this evening, I learned that the appropriate terminology is a Verizon Community "Space," and not section, area, forum, sub-forum, or any of the other words I was looking for... just so you all now know. :]

To my knowledge there is no way whatsoever to alter the color scheme to which you refer. If you want to continue to use Verizon's factory-installed application for Contacts / Dialer, my only suggestion would be to go to Settings>>Display>>Font Size, then change that setting to "Huge."
The alternative would be to use Google Play Store to install a different Contacts manager, which also come with a Dialer and Instant Messenger service as well. If you open Google Play Store, you can search for the app that best suits your needs by entering "Contacts Manager" then previewing what the app will look and behave like once you download it. All of them I've used have a simple function to transfer and update the contacts from your phone's pre-installed app to it's own software. And ALL of them that I've used are much easier on the eyes and provide options for color schemes, how you want to view your contacts (mine is just set to alphabetic by last name), and that sort of thing.
The app I'm currently using, and like best thusfar, is called Contacts+. Below is a screenshot of how the contacts screen appears when the "Theme" is set to "Light" and noting that I have the Font Size in my DROID 4 Display Settings (referenced above) set to "Normal."
I have put this on several family members' phones, as Macular Degeneration (which eventually causes blindness) runs in the family.
Good luck to you!
