WiFi Hotspot

Question

I know that Verizon charges us out the wazoo for using our phones as a hotspot because it chews up data.  However, I was wondering if this situation is different.

I live in a two family house, the wireless router is downstairs and up here there are a few deadspots. This causes my tablet to get a weak signal unless I'm in specific areas.

I was wondering if my phone is connected to the wireless network will connecting my tablet to my phone as opposed to connecting directly to the router will that be a workaround to overage charges?

Great question, Norwood! As long as you are connected to your wireless internet at home you will not be charged. You should see the WiFi symbol on your phone when you're connected to your home network. However, if you show a 3G or 4G symbol on your device you may be incurring data charges.
