My X seems to have suddenly forgotten how to connect to Wifi. I connected a couple days ago, no problems. Just pushed the short cut Wifi button, waited a second or two for the blue wave symbol, then quickly went on with my life. Today it won't connect. I haven't changed any settings, not on my phone or my router. I went to the WiFi menu to see if maybe it had lost the key or something, but no. it's just going from scanning to obtaining ip address to disconnected to disabled to scanning to obtaining ip address . . . . And before I get responses about apps interfering, I haven't downloaded anything in several weeks, definitely nothing since the last time I was connected. So what changed? How does my X end up so confused?

You might need to update some app you installed.

First, I was amazed by how many apps I had that needed updates. Second no such luck. My phone finally said connected, then wouldn't actually let do anything with the connection. Any other suggestions are welcome, but please keep in mind that I'm a technical idiot, so use small words.

I get this problem every once in a while, the only way to remedy it is to turn my access points wifi security to wpa tkip and mixed n/g/b compatibility. I'm running a Dlink wireless N router and my phone connects fine on it @65mbps which is faster than G, but not quite N.
Every once in a while I do have to cycle the wireless off then back on at the router end, otherwise my droid X will do the connecting/disconnect thing. This only happens every couple of weeks though so it's a non-factor for me.
