I put the "power control" widget on my home screen and would like to know what is the circle with two arrows for? It's the one between the satellite and brightness icon.

Toggle for turning on and off Auto-SYNC (google, weather, facebook, etc)

I think so. If you go to settings, there should be a selection of something like accounts and sync. In there it tells you which accounts sync and the options you can set up with each account.

Backup assistant isn't available for my phone so I am not sure how that sync work.

When I look in accounts it shows two,  gmail and backup asst. Is there another area on the X I should be looking or is this the correct area?
