Probably not, but what most don't consider is that 3G rev A phones should be able to handle close to 20mbps download speed. Right now we are sitting between 1-2mbps. With that said, 4G is actually just a hype phrase being used by companies such as Sprint with the EVO 4G currently.
Word is 4G is supposed to be 20-40mbps, yet the EVO which is being called "4G" only cranks out 2.7mbps which doesn't even match T-mobile's 3G+ service which boasts 2.8-3mbps. So this fear people are being feed by the media is unsubstantiated. The Droid X should easily be able to handle 4x's the speed it's currently getting before it's out-dated by "4G" devices.

Oh I did not know this.
Added to my long term memory.
Thanks for explaining this.

The Rev A on Verizon is only rated for a theoretical max of 3.4Mbps but most people will barely see half that speed. The Droid X only has a dual band CDMA 1x/EVDO Rev A radio so that's the best you're going to do as there's no chance of it getting LTE support when Verizon starts rolling it out.

I believe that is what Verizon limits it to with the current radios. A radio can be flashed with an update though, so it still gives us lots of room to grow.
