Will not sync after first try.

My incredible will not sync with my Gateway MD7818u laptop.  After the first time syncing it no longer will se the PC or even ask me how to connect.  This is the 4th phone to do this, I am going to call support again tomorrow and see what they can do.  I love the phone and would like to get it to work.  If anyone has an answer to this problem, I would love to hear it.  I searched Gateway and HTC websites with no answers.
