I have a one of the last Droid R2D2's from Verizon. I was curious if this phone would be included in the gingerbread upate when the other Droid 2's are.

As far as I know no information about updates for the R2D2 version has been published. There was some information on the regular D2 update, but as far as I know that information has been removed.
So I took a really long time to say no one yet knows.

I like it more than I actually expected. It has for the most part replaced my laptop.
Except for the fact that I still lug my laptop around everywhere my Xoom has mostly replaced it. I use my laptop as a desktop at this point. For 90% of my meetings as well as surfing while at home I only use my Xoom.
Thumb Keyboard is a must have. Dropbox let's me sync the files that need to be on both, and evernote let's me take the same set of notes anywhere. My Xoom has my Exchange calendar and email. Since the last update it has worked well with my corporate wifi. My biggest current complaint is that with the last update they introduced a bug where if you use an ' in an email it comes out as ' , so I'm learning to send emails without contractions

My old Droid and Droid 2 did the same thing with the &how's instead of & how's. It was a pain. The DX doesn't do it though. I've never owned a laptop, but am thinking of getting a XOOM and just using that as my portable device.....
