I am seriously thinking about upgrading to the Motorola Droid X from an HTC Droid Eris but want to make sure that it will pair with my car, which is a 2008 Mercedes E350 (has the puck in the console). I'm assuming that since my Eris does the X will also since they both run on a Google operating system (the Eris runs on the 2.1 OS).
I really want the larger phone screen, but don't want to lose my hands-free capability in the car.
Thx,
Darlene

I bought the Droid X on December 23rd. It does pair with my car but doesn't load the address book, so I'm somewhat disappointed about that. However, the phone is awesome and the battery life is excellent! My previous phone was an HTC Eris, and the battery life was horrible. Love the huge screen and video resolution. If Verizon does upgrade the OS to Gingerbread, I might get my car address book back. That's what happened when the Eris OS was upgraded. So, I'm ever hopeful!

I do not see why it wont pair for phne use but as for a2dp stereo streaming is unknown because some devices play well with vehicle units some dont but if you ar just going to use for phone calls I would say you shouldnt have any issues.

the latest merc-benz puck is a smaller black unit than the original silver/blue puck that i believe will let you transfer the address book to the car - go to your merc-benz retailer and check with them - probably the sharpest salesman there will have the answer you are looking for

For the car, I only care about phone calls. I think I'm going to go get the Droid X tomorrow. I'll post with results after I get my new phone. Wish me luck!
Good luck, if you have any issues feel free to post or browse previous topics for help. As for pairing with your car for voice calls, you should be golden. Bluetooth for phone calls is pretty basic, it's when you dig deeper into the possibilities that issues do arise.

The Droid X by Motorola is not listed as a fully tested device to be paired with the 2008 Mercedes E350. The device may pair but certain features that are accessible on the HTC Droid Eris maybe inoperable with the Droid X.
