Hello All, I just received my second replacement droid phone this month (I believe it is the droid x) which is a certified like new replacement. The droid phones have been giving me problems with battery life. When I purchased my first droid phone the battery would last for three days, now I have to charge the phone every night. I have not changed the way I use the phone and I do not use the online features much at all. The second so-called certified like new replacement was malfunctioning from the start. As soon as I activated the phone it was running very slow, stalling after every press of a button. It took me 4 tries to check my voicemail. The numbers on the dial pad would stay on and freeze, or the area around the number would pixelate and disappear. I took the battery out to try a reset, since then it has been working better. I would really rather not get stuck with a bad phone and have to spend a lot of money for a replacement. The warranty on the phone will be up in a few months. I talked with verizon support thinking by now maybe they would send me a NEW replacement, but even the supervisor said they can't do that. Has anyone ever received a new replacement phone from verizon? Any suggestions will be welcome.

Sorry to hear about all the bad luck you seem to be having. From what I understand, you only get a NEW phone as a replacement if it's within 14 days of purchase. After that - and during your 1 year warranty - you will only receive a Refurbished one. Unless you can somehow complan loud and often enough that they'll succumb. ![]()
Are your CERTAIN athat after doing a Reset or your initial set up that you didn't inadvertedly reinstalled a bad APP that was causing the grief?? FYI, just taking the battery out is not a full "RESET". That is done either with a special boot-up procedure, or selecting the RESET in the system SETTINGS options.

Thanks for the reply. We have two of the same model droid phones and the other one has been working fine. I have not installed or changed any apps. I did not get much help from vzn tech support. My big worry is my wife is disabled and she must be able to contact me in case of emergency so my phone MUST work. I am going to contact vzn corp on Monday to register a complaint.

If it does that all the time, maybe try to run in SAFE MODE for a while, just to seeif it makes any difference and things work better.
To get into SAFE MODE:
- Power off the phone
- Press and HOLD the Menu button
- Continue holding and now power up the phone, while continuing to hold through the entire boot up
The phone will say SAFE MODE in lower left corner.
Run in that mode for a while just to see if the problem comes back. If it does NOT, I would suspect that it's a faulty APP.
To get out of SAFE MODE, just power off/on normally.

If you are getting 3 days out of a charge I'm going to go out on a limb and say you don't have the Droid X. I have the standard battery and I get the best battery life out of anyone I know, yet I can only make about 1day 20hrs until I am down to about 20-30% charge. And that is with limited use on the second day. Generally with average usage I am down to 60-70% after 17 hours.
Again, getting 3 days charge out of a Droid X is unheard of simply because it is a high performance, high connectivity device.
In the future I'd caution you against getting a cutting edge device for someone who is relient on it for life and death situations.
I love my Droid X, but if I had only 1 chance to dial 911 from any phone of my choice, I'd pick a simple no feature phone rather than my Droid X.

Yea, I'd like to know that as well ... I charge mine every morning after being powered off at night. Then I usually top it off again around 4-5 PM ... We had this discussion yesterday at the family's house - iPhone people there. EVERYONE says they basically leave their iPhone plugged in 24x7 when not being used. So I feel fortunate to get the amount of juice I do out of my DROID X.

I believe it is the original droid phone with the standard battery. The way I use the phone has not changed since I got it, I do not use it to play games, no text messaging or IM's, very little e-mail service, and I make very few phone calls. Most of the time is standby. I was charging about every third day. My other same model droid my wife has only needs a charge on the third day and she uses hers more than I do. Women talk more.......don't tell her I said that!

With that sort of battery life it does indeed sound like the Original Droid. My wife and mom had the same phone, I've been able to straighten out my wife's phone a couple of times however my mom had to replace her phone about 4 times. It seems a lot of the problems they are experiencing only turned up after the 2.2 update.
