Would you trade your Bionic for a Droid Razr?

If Motorola/Verizon finally figured out that they angered users by bringing out an improved phone (Razr) over their heavily hyped and heavily flawed flagship phone (Bionic) just outside of the return period, would you consider returning your Bionic for a free Razr?

I don't know, probably not. Getting a new Motorola phone is painful.

First off I don't find the Bionic 'heavily flawed' at all, especially coming from a Samsung Charge....that's a 'heavily flawed' phone IMO. So your argument is a non-starter for this discussion in that it's your opinion.

As to the Bionic vs the Razr:

My only concern is battery life. I believe the power output of the Razr battery is only the equal of the extended battery in the Bionic.

The other thing that makes absolutely no sense to me is the battery consumption of the OLED display. They say these displays consume LESS power than the standard LCD display, yet my experience is exactly the reverse.

My Samsung Charge always showed the OLED display as consuming the most power of anything on the phone...by far! Typically I'd see about 70-80% of battery life taken up by the OLED display.

Yet my Motorola Bionic typically shows about 10% of power being consumed by the display...exactly the reverse of what they say.

So that's why I'm concerned about Razr battery life...especially since you can't replace the sealed battery!

How do you know the Razr won't have as many or more problems than the Bionic?

You don't, but seriously, it can't be bad as the Bionic.

My theory is that they learned about all their screw ups with the Bionic and they'll fix it on RAZR and then release it. The ones who bought the abomination has to deal with it, I'm not so sure that some of the issues on the Bionic can be fixed with a software update.

You should go back to the Blackberry if you really think it is so much better. I have not had any data loss problems with the Bionic and think it is a very solid phone. I would not trade it for a Razr.

Well right now I would trade the BIONIC for something that works. The data loss problem is getting very old. Needed to read a document yesterday while on the phone in 4g area and lost everything. No phone, no data just a brick in my hand. So as for trading it in I would if something else worked. When it works its fine. It seems when I really need that DATA connection for work it fails. More than 60% of the people with this phone having problems of all types.

Once again, it's YOUR opinion that the Bionic is so 'screwed up'. Try a Charge if you want a screwed up phone IMO. But your experience with the Bionic is not everyone's experience. Best to state "IMO" as opposed to a sweeping generalization.

Not in a million years.

We are noticing a huge amount of issues on our Bionics mostly because Mortorola did a poor job is testing the phone, and then they turned it over to Verizon who did a worse job of testing the phone (or they let it go to production knowing it had issues) and I dont fault them for it (too much). Every device or piece of software we buy today has bugs and flaws, and there is no way to get around that.

Now if the RAZR was basically a second generation Bionic with all of the bugs worked out, I would consider it, but it is not. The technologies are not the same (while close,, they are different). The RAZR will have just as many issues as the Bionic does, some may be the same, some may be new but it will have them (come back and watch the RAZR Boards in a month and see). So I am going to my Software purchasing rule for phones now, and that rule is, after the first patch is available, I will consider it out of test mode, and consider buying it.

Other things on the RAZR I do not like is the Fixed Battery because it eliminates one very important thing on a phone and that is the soft reboot or Battery Pull. If your phone freezes and the buttons do not function, on your Bionic, you can pull the battery out, and when it reboots, most of the time you will have functionality. Try that on a RAZR!! Impossible since the battery does not come out.. They might have some button combinations in place to do the soft reboot, but if your buttons and keys are NON Functional, it would be real hard to get that to work now anyway.

Also Kevlar, while good for Bullet Proof Vests, and strengthening Fiberglass, has NO Benefit in a phone.

While the RAZR might be slimmer then the Bionic, it is still larger (footprint) and quite frankly I want smaller on a phone.

On lesson for me on the whole failure of the cell phone is that it is not capable of being your soul phone. You always have to have a back up cell. My home phone line that I cancelled 2 yrs ago was expensive for the few times I used it. However, every phone I ever bought for the line always worked. Some for 30 yrs without a problem. The rush to put out new and inferior products to gain market share is a sham. Not sure this will ever get fixed but I hope so. I spent 20x on this phone and as much for a lap top.

Evening all. No I would not trade, I know I would not like the form/fit of the Razr and I guarantee the Razr is going to have battery issues considering it is a sealed, high capacity unit inside of a phone with a very small form factor. And you can have the aluminum/kevlar housing, aluminum dents, bends, etc compared to modern plastics.

The Bionic is a good solid unit.

Ummm YES I AM TRADING IN MY BIONIC FOR THE RAZR. Who wouldn't? With all the problems I have had with the Bionic I am glad to get rid of it. I lose network connection EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!!!! Every time I restart my phone I lose one or two apps. Plus Vz and Moto screw all of us Bionic buyers by waiting 9 months for the phone to come out and behind the senses they made a faster and better phone to come out less then 2 months later. I am so glad that I am upgrading my phone and will be selling my bionic.

And to answer all your questions no I don't know if the Razr will have problems but I can guarantee I won't lose network connection or lose apps.

What is there is other problems, and the update happens for the bionic that fixes the problems? Would you regret it again?

He will regret it when he can't through a day on the sealed battery with the only option being to recharge it. I just don't know what Motorola was thinking making this unit sealed. I don't think anyone would have screamed if it were slightly thicker and allow the case to be opened and the battery to be replaced.

Bad move Motorola. Apple did the same thing, but ofcourse that's to get your money on battery replacements.

lesson learned for sure...i should have passed on this phone, or as suggested before by a previous poster, waited a few months. its a good phone, but i think of my previous phone (Incredible 2) and miss having a phone that always worked! since we are stuck with this device, hopefully the software update whips it into shape.

RAZR does look nice, but i think in the end as mentioned several times before, the inability to remove the battery and limitation to replace is with an extended battery is going to be the fall of that phone.
