I have set up the gmail account on my phone (HTC incredable). Works fine. Now I want to set up the homes email on it. When I try I get an error mesage of "Cannot conect to the mail server to varify your account information. Your server is not responding." What does this meem and what do I do. My e-mail on the computer workes fine.
thanks
Tim

The incoming and outgoing mail settings are completely different on a phone. If you want let us know who is your mail provider, charter, comcast TWC, and one of us can most likely give you the settings.
Or if you rather, Google, "(name of email provider) mobile email settings."

I use Suddenlink on my phone as well as Outlook on my laptop. I use the same settings for both. I live in Texas but I'm assuming you can use the same server settings no matter what Suddenlink service area you live in so here are the settings I used:
When setting up your email account:
When it asks you to choose a mail provider select: Other (POP3/IMAP)
When I set my account up I chose "Manual setup" and entered the following settings:
Incoming Server Settings
Username: xxxxxx@suddenlink.net (xxxxxx is your Suddenlink account ID)
Password: xxxxxx, where xxxxxx is your password
POP server: pop.suddenlink.net
Security type: None
Server port: 110
Outgoing Server Settings
Login required: yes (check the box)
Username: xxxxxx@suddenlink.net (xxxxxx is your Suddenlink account ID)
Password: xxxxxx, where xxxxxx is your password
SMTP server: smtp.suddenlink.net
Security type: None
Server port: 25
This should work; at least it worked for me. Hope this helps

I don't normally write replies but in this case I must.
I have been trying to figure out how to set up my
suddenlink account for months now.
I followed your steps to the T and boom
it is set up! I can't thank you enough.
I was so happy I could hug you
TYVM for your advice and help
