Apple is much better than droid in all aspects of function and ease of use hands down. My droid x is on its way where it belongs to the trash.
Many would beg to differ, but you are free to have your opinion.

What are you like 7y/o?
Next time you want a phone that's simple, don't buy a smart phone or go Iphone. Just a thought.....
precisely my thoughts when I saw his (troll) post. FanBoy ?
Functionally the iphone can't touch android.
Ease of use, I'll give you that. That's why the iphone is so popular with pre-teen girls.
Actually, the iPhone was developed for Soccer Moms ... I'll put my DX up against one any day.
I'm sure we all knew it was a troll. Still fun though.
It's only a problem if you let the troll get under your skin.
Well, shoot...if you're gonna throw it away, I'll take it. The Droid X is great!

If you don't take it Loydroidx, I will! A rescued Droid X from the trash sound like a free upgrade from my Droid Eris.
Don't get me wrong I love my Eris, but 4.3" screen with Froyo of Droid goodness sounds blissful!

Well.....okay Ann. Since you don't have the X, I'll let you have it. You're right...the 4.3" screen is phenomenal! All the other screens seem so small now.

I guess it's true what they say. Opinions are like {word filter avoidance}, everybody has one.

Looks like Shrek :smileyhappy:
option 1
go with apple, and get a plastic phone with no SD card slot, no changeable battery (Apple has even changed the screws on the phone to an exclusive style so *nobody* can open the case besides them), no Flash player, one apps market (granted it's the biggest, but we'll see for how long) that can delete "unapproved" apps from your phone whether you like it or not, and on and on with other issues about Apple being the most control -freakish entity to exist outside of pure facism.
option 2
go with android-based phones, which are numbering in the several of dozens by now from several quality manufacturers in a wide range of prices starting at ***FREE***. You get the phone that fits your lifestyle, a phone that has expandable memory (up to 32G on some), Flash player, traditional access to the battery, a very impressive apps market that has no qualms about 3rd party apps, and is growing to match Apple's volume......
As long as Apple continues to make the same mistakes Henry Ford made with the Model T...(this is the car you get...you get it in black...thank you for your purchase) They will continue to leave themselves open to being overtaken in the free markets of the world where people want options...options that typically don't mean a more expensive purchase. The lock-in contract with AT&T over the years gave Android all the room they needed (every other carrier....) to gain momentum in taking on the giant fruit.
Now Apple is only on their second incarnation of their ground-breaking phone. Don't get me wrong, Apple had a great idea, and ran with it in a mostly intelligent manner. The branding is what it is, but from where I sit, that's all Apple has anymore...the name.
In my opinion the options are really broken down to these two....
1. get a phone with a partially eaten fruit on the back that makes everyone think you're awesome
2. get a phone that really is a smartphone.
thank you for your attention.
You droid fanatics are really funny at most time protecting your purchased goods. And even worst being baited in from a troll that never responded back.
Apple IOS is as smooth as butter with the most intuitive user experience you can have on a phone unlike some other OS's (*cough*cough*android) that just put a bunch of crap together and runs like trash. I have never heard such a high return rate due to the OS confusion of support from either the carrier, google, or the phone manufactures. You guys talking about Android phones having so much more functionality but what good is it when they're not polished that just kills the user experience (flash, poor software opitmization=battery life sucks, sluggish). I know I know, you guys will say something about well Android is so pretty, its customizable and its a opened software....well actually that is the flaw that google have created whom had never grasp the experience in building a software to have it run as smooth as possible with all that running. And good luck on having your phone being supported only to have it replaced by another phone in a month or two. And lets not talk about iphone 4. Looks and build quality already kills anything out in the market. About its IOS...well it can tedious sometimes being a locked software but it just works....And works for everyone and anyone in world who picks it up for the first time. Apple support with its own software and hardware is unmatched well because...both are made by them and are implemented together like wings on planes. Why do you guys think that even the 1st gen. iphone still sell and hold better value then most new phones out there? Its all about user experience. User experience = popularity = loyalty = growth = support = value = tons of apps = tons of accessories. And this is what Apple has learned to become the biggest tech company in the industry.

I still love that video!!!!
Another thing that I can laugh at is my co-worker, he complains the only reason Android is growing in popularity is because they have it on multiple device brands on several carriers and reported that if iPhone did this they would be even more popular .... And this was his arguement to prove that Android isnt as popular as a iPhone, have you ever heard some of the stranges defense remarks made..... It reminds me of this video..
Ahhh, nothing like ending a 3-day work binge with a red-letter response. Settle in, kids....

Geri "still hoping for a red smiley face" O
I just love how someone comes to a forum and post that a product is better then the forum they are in. All these posts are a normal response. With that said, I am a happy X owner. The iphone is not a bad phone and fits the needs of others fine. I believe alot of people seem to see the iphone as a benchmark to what a smartphone should be instead of what a smartphone could be. This is where Android os wins over iphones os as far as customization. I'm not a rooter but still have options to customize my phone and that's the key word, customize. Android just took a different approach then apple and gives us more freedom with our phones then Apple. The one thing to remember is if your happy with your phone Apple or Android then that's all that counts.
No chance in h*e*l*l in reasoning with FANBOYZ. Been there, tried that ... facts just get in the way of their logic. They drank the kool-aid and there will NEVER be anything as good - or gosh forbid BETTER - than an iCrap anything. I too find it funny that he is trolling here in a forum for a product that he has no clue of nor owns. Yea, the iPhone is locked down for a reason - it was always meant for soccer moms as they seldom wish to be confused (or get themself into trouble) with technology and configurability options. (not meant to demean Soccer moms ... you have a very busy life, I get that. You probably don't want to have to configure a phone.)
DROID X, and proud to own it. A wonderful SMART phone.
I agree with about the posts too.
My biggest beef with Apple and the iphone has and will always be itunes. I don't want to have to rely on a owning a computer to activate or transfer content to my phone.
Huh....who'd have thought that owning a phone that only does what the manufacturer wants it to do is "cool".....
I can't count the apps I've put on my DX.....haven't paid for a single one of them....Iphone?
I even have an independant app market that provides even more options than the market that came with the phone...Iphone?
I can get to my battery and even upgrade to an extended life battery if I choose, no tools or service by the manufacturer needed....Iphone?
I can expand my phones memory up to 32G if I want to....Iphone?
I can watch flash on my phone...Iphone?
I can put any MP3 file I want to on my phone directly through my computer....Iphone?
I can download any MP3 file from the internet to my phone through its internal browser....Iphone?
yeah, thought so....
Thank you for your attention.
droidsw looks like we was thinking on the same page on this...
One thing I can say openly that I have had my Droid X from day one and the impression that the device requires being rebooted daily isnt correct, I have gone long periods without even a issue or having to reboot. Most rebooting comes from a conflicting app more than anything especially after a updated with updated code. Apples code for the iPhone has been using the same base code because they really have not changed the device since first released.
If you owned any item that hasn't changed for 5 years (just throwing out a number) it is easy to learn everything about it but on the same note that can make things a bit boring.
wildman, since I resolved my router issue, I go up to a week without (manually) rebooting and I do that, not because of a problem, but out of habit from using a pc.As to the argument of which phone has more issues, consider this:Everyone knows the majority of people come to forums when they have issues with their phones. That is exactly what brought me here.Consequently, there are going to be a lot of angry (just ask Gerio how pleasant I was to him) and disgruntled customers.Few people come to this forum just to post that "everything is OK".That said, I realize that iphones outsell Droid X's, but did you see the size of some of the mega-posts I listed from their forums?Iphones are trendy, fashionable and popular but in NO WAY are they beyond reproach when it comes to issues and if the fanboys took off their rose colored glasses, they would see that iphones are not PERFECT.
galaxie,
I too will check out all the options before I purchase my next phone. I can't speak for others, but I have never said the Droid X is the "best" and am very upfront about my mixed emotions towards Moto.
However, it is this "Emperor's New Clothes" cloud of illusion that the other crowd walks in that gets some android owner's goats and is the reason for the childish "Apple vs Android" arguments (which was started by "them" in this thread).
I sat down for a long talk with our IT Manager, recently. He is a big iphone fanboy. The result? I am sure I convinced him of many valid points. He agreed and conceded that he was uniformed about android, in general.
Would he ever purchase one after admitting that (some) adroid phones are "better" and might even do more?
No. Brainwashing has been completed. Most of them will never change, no matter what. Conversation over.
At one time Verizon had phones like this but discontinued them for what ever reason. I thought they was great and had planned on some for the grandkids when they got old enough but they was discontinued.
If you really hate it that much dont throw it away... Let me know and we can make arrangements for it to be sent from your local Verizon office to mine and I will set it up for my wife.
Sarge
"Consequently, there are going to be a lot of angry (just ask Gerio how pleasant I was to him) and disgruntled customers."
Please, you were fine and justifiably upset over your experience with the phone. And I could have kept my big mouth shut, too, but there are days....
I just hope that things are working better for you these days.
And I look forward to reading posts from you.
Sorry...but I just have to weigh in on this. Apple users (Mac, ipad, iPhone, etc) remind me of something out of a 1970's sci-fi movie...a bunch of 'bots' blindly following a 'leader'. Someone with an iPhone told me she was going to get another laptop, and was going to get a Mac this time, even though there are other laptops just as good at half the price, or less. Not that she cared anything about the specs...it's just an Apple product.
OK Play nice. I'm a long time Mac user because it does what I want it to do without a lot of fooling around and I don't want to learn a whole new OS. I have a Droid X and see no reason to get a iPhone. I don't think I'm following a leader anymore that you are spouting a line of c&&p. Please give people the right to think as they please!
droidsw wrote:They've been having issues with those pesky home buttons (according to their forum) so maybe they didn't like your advice........Those things they use are so buggy, you know.
Oh, great.
Like I'm not hated over there enough already....
Here's the way I look at the Apple, Android, & other operating system/phone discussion.
Apple,
The apple OS was designed to work with one phone and one phone only. Apple even designed and speced out the phone. The only option was the amount of memory in the phone. The cpu, the screen type, the audio, just everything was going to be the same on every phone. The OS better work and work very well. And it does.
Android,
The Android OS had to be designed to work with many phones from many different manufacturers. The cpu's are different, the screens are different, just about everything can be different from one phone to the next. The phones come from multiple manufacturers and go to all carriers. The manufacturer of the phone "tweeks" the OS, then the carrier specifies some "tweeks" of their own. Is it any wonder the sometimes you might see some lag......
There are other OS's like Windows, Symbian, etc. but the competition between Apple and Android is what I'm discussing here. Android OS's are being activated at a rate of over 200,000+ every day! day after day, week after week, month after month. I'm sure that The apple OS has some 1,000,000 activation days, but this is when a new iPhone comes out, after that the activation rate drops way off.
Now Apples method of operation works and it works very well.... The Android OS works and it works very well too. This is born out by the numbers of activated phones. My point is all phones and their OS's play an important role in the wireless phone arena.
ONe last thing I want to bring up.... this is the competition between the 2 OS's. Remember..... the competition is a good thing. Can you imagine what it would be like if the iPhone was the only game it town? You think Apple controls what you can and can't do with the iPhone now!!!! But I'm sure Google wouldn't be improving the Android OS if it weren't for competition from other OS's. Remember when Windows Mobile was pretty much the only game in town? Microsoft was under almost no pressure to update or improve WM. You got what they put on the phone and you better like it!!! See where they are now because of that thinking???? playing catchup!!!!
Anyway just a few of my thoughts..... this post is just skimming the surface of the subject and my thoughts on it, but I'm sure you get the jist of my thinking.
Okay here it goes....
First off I like to apologize for the comment I made earlier in this thread. It was not professional and intelligent on my part to even judge anyone by their purchases, opinions, and to calling anyone out only to belittle them. I guess that's what happen when you have a couple of shots of you know what on rocks from a lightweight guy like me.
I've never said I hated Android nor ever said that I loved it. Although there are few things about it that bugs the crap out of me but then the same thing can be said about Apple IOS. Actually the released of Android was the best thing that could've ever happened to all of us in which it creates more choices and competitions. I have many friends that uses one or the other and almost all of them come out happy on the other end.
Both Android and IOS has come a long way to become good currently and could become great in the future as both platforms continue to grow. Both has pros and cons and picking either one will start from which devices better suit your needs. This is where Android is great. They are offered in a variety of device sizes, screen sizes, power, weight, features and functionality. But I do have to caution you guys to do your research before making any Android purchases because some provide more support than others(hardware and software). And if you like the openess of Android as far as customizing and more built in features then that is a bonus on top of the devices you get choose. Watch the battery meter though- hopefully battery technology will further improve as more and more phones gets released.
And as for the title of thread "Apple Is The Best" is a really immature thing to say because they're not. But Apple is good at making things simple and smooth and provide a great user experience to a certain portion of the demographic. Where they are lack in selection of phones is greatly made up by great quality and support provided only on to two different phones. IOS is not everyone's taste. I agree with a lot of people saying its too simple and too controlled by uncle Steve J. But that is also a good thing because it just makes the phone works.
So for everyone! To each their own!
How does the section reserved for the Droid X get a thread titled "Apple is the best"?
If I go to the iPhone section, will I see a thread titled "Droid X is the best"?
Sounds to me like someone just trying to stir up trouble..... or an aggressive Apple fanboy.
