Can anyone tell me if there is a way to block unwanted calls i thought i read somewhere tht u could but i am unable to find tht again any advise would b apreciated

Sign in to My Verizon and go to security. It will cost you $4.99 a month and you can block up to 20 numbers
Or you can add the phone number in your contacts and tell it at the very very bottom to go straight to voicemail.

On your VZW homepage go to Verizon Safeguards and choose Spam controls, then choose call & Message block. you can add upto 5 numbers for free, however it has an expiration date but you can just continue to renew. If you need more than 5 you have to subscribe to the monthly service fee.
Block incoming calls= There's an App for that
You can also download "afirewall" in the market. It can make the phone block certain numbers by going to voicemail or hanging up.
If you are registered you would go to our site http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/index.html?tab=myaccount and sign in to your my Verizon to be able to block numbers. It is also a link under the sign in for registration online if you are not registered. Hope this Helped
