can't find ringtone

I just downloaded a ringtone to my phone and I can't find it anywhere other than the text saying that I have sucessfully downloaded my ringtone...I can click on it and listen to it but I would like to apply it to my phone's ringtone list to assign it. anyone? :smileyindifferent:

How did you download the ringtone? Did you use an app for this and if so which one?

If you downloaded it from a message it will be in the SD Card / Messaging folder,

but if you downloaded from a web site it will be in SD Card / Downloads folder..

If you want to use as a ringer just place ringers into SD Card / Madia / Audio / Ringtones folder and you will be able to access ringer in the default ringer setting on device..

I downloaded it throug the verizon web site... I'm going to fiddle with it a bit... I just got the phone yesterday and i'm still getting used to it.

I believe that the Samsung phones come with a My Files application which is a file explorer application for the phone's sd card.

Or you can download a file explorer application from the Market. Some of the most popular ones are Astro or Estrongs.

OK... I do have a my files which I have now put on my home page... there is nothing in it though. talk about no clue here! now what?

Hmmm...that does not sound right. You should be able to see the contents of your SD card when you open the My Files app.

Try this. On any of your home screens, press the Menu button (left physical button at bottom of phone), then select Settings > SD card & phone storage and compare the Total space shown with the Available space. If they are the same (should be around 29.6 GB of Total space if you have a 32 GB SD card), then your card is empty, or it may need to be formatted.

If you don't have anything on the card other than the ringtone, reformat the card. Below Available space is a setting that should read Unmount SD card. Select this. The setting below that should then ungray itself. Select Format SD card and allow it to reformat.

Then go back to the Verizon website, re-download the ringtone, and try to see it using My Files, as instructed by Ann154.

OK... the step by step is VERY helpful, I.E. "physical button at bottom of phone"...ect at least I was able to find where the sd card is stored and look at it... on my earlier fiddlings I think I did stumble onto it and hit the reformat button and cleared it...thankfully I don't have anything else on this phone yet. WHEW! so now I will go about re-downloading the ring tone I bought from Verizon. I will let you know how this works out... the rest isn't as clear on some of the other replies because I'm quite green at how to navigate this phone as of yet. I'll be back ... :robotindifferent:

If you haven't already, you can download a pdf copy of the phone manual from the manufacturer's website or Verizon's support page for the phone. That will give you the basics of using the phone.
