Hi All,
Anyone getting this error prompt?
Sorry!
The process com.motorola.service.main has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Force Close
The prompt opens continuously so the phone has essentially become unusable.
I've googled for solutions and have done the following without sucess:
1. Removed Corp Sync Account
2. Removed battery, waited 30+ seconds, restarted
3. Did a factory reset
Nothing has worked.
My helpdesk says Verizon sent an update down and that is what caused the issue. I was never asked to apply an update and never accepted any update. This all started happening around 4:30 Eastern time on 10/27/2011
Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas on how to resolve?
thank you

If I were you I would take it to a Verizon Corporate store. If they can replicate the issue, they may help you fix it. From what you're describing, replicating it wouldn't be an issue.
Good luck.
Sincerely,
Murat

Thanks for the feedback Murat. I may have to do that. since i am having no success at all.
Many posts say it's related to corp sync. I've since deleted my corp account and the issue persists.

Did another factory reset. Everything was going well for about 10 minutes until I went to Market and the stock Marketplace was upgraded. As other automatic updates started the com.motorola.service.main prompt came back.
i suspect it's an update of some kind that is causing the issue.

Hello JonaWerks,
I must admit that this is a very unusual issues that you have here. I'm more than happy to assist you in resolving this error message. Do you only receive this error message when you try to setup and access your work email? There hasn't been a software update released for the Droid Bionic. Your most recent post states that you did a factory reset on the device. Are you still having the issue after the reset? If so, please reply with your findings so I can further investigate for you.
Thank you...

JonaWerks & TheKaiCa,
I would like to assist with this device issue you are having. JonaWerks, it sounds like you have already done quite a bit of troubleshooting. After you completed the factory reset, did any of the same applications re-install? If so, I would suggest removing those if you are able to. Try booting the phone into safe mode, which disables third party applications from running on startup. This will help determine if an application running in the background may be causing this issue.
If the issue is no longer occurring in safe mode, it may be an application that was re-installed after the reset. Go to Settings>Privacy>Uncheck Back up my Data & Automatic Restore. Then factory reset again.
If the issue is still occurring in safe mode and after the factory reset, the device may need to be replaced thru warranty.

I've done the hard reset but the message came back. I had VZ send me a new phone. Less than a week using the new phone I got the error message reappear after landing in Hawaii when I turned on the phone. I've also tried the auto clock fix mentioned in another post but no luck. This is now the second phone so I suspect perhaps something needs to taken up with Motorola.

I have been saying this for a while it's not the phone but the software. When the new update for the market hit I lost the "My Apps " portion of the market.
Verizon is sending me out yet my 2nd phone either because crucial apps get deleted or in this case my market won't work when it was updated.

I just got a Motorola XPRT from "Boost Mobile" after being a VZW customer for over 12 years, and I am getting the same error, but only after connecting to my hotmail account. I had a Droid X (I think that's what it was) on VZW and never had this problem with Hotmail, but it was an older Droid. So perhaps the software was different.
I think this error must have something to do with syncing mail, whether with corporate mail or even a hotmail account, perhaps where there are too many messages to sync before a timeout or something. This is my wife's phone and she has a TON of email in her hotmail inbox. I just moved the ~1700 unread emails to another folder, leaving only about 70 unread, but still have the problem. So maybe that's got nothing to do with it. Coupled with the "max attempts in 15 minute" error for a POP3 account, this has been a real pain to resolve. Try three times, wait 15 minutes, try something else, wait 15 minutes. Ughh.
Well, since it looks like there have been no other posts on this issue since November 2011, perhaps VZW got this problem licked back over six months ago, while Sprint/Boost Mobile has probably not figured it out yet. You definitely get what you pay for in this world (most of the time anyway).
