my contact list in my gmail acount is in perfect order by last name from a to z.... but on my phone, it is by last name in some areas and by first name in other areas on my contact list on the phone... how can I fix this so it is the same on the phone as on the gmail list????    Second question is how can I get a picture that is sent to me by a text message to go to my gallery automatically????

what are you using for contact backup, backup assistant or gmail.

i believe within contacts, menu, settings you can select either 1st/last name 1st.

not automatically, long touch it & you get a drop down menu with save & it should go into messages in the gallery, mine does.

Under Phone Dialer there is a option, open dialer to contacts and then look through menus...

 

Second question is how can I get a picture that is sent to me by a text message to go to my gallery automatically????

You may can increase the MMS settings download file size option under the apps menu option but other than that I dont believe there is any way to have them go to gallery because the images do not download until you download it..

Heres the correct directory...

With the latest update to Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3), the contact list on the Droid X can now be sorted by last name. Here's how:

Step 1:
From your contacts list, hit the Menu key, then select Display Options.

Step 2:
In Display Options, select Sort list by.

Step 3:
Select Last name to sort your contacts by last name.
