contradictions and lies regarding 2.2 for the droid? actual live chat with myslef and motorola chat

BOB PINETTE: as an owner of the original droid and hearing rumors and speculation i am wondering what the status of the froyo update is?
BOB PINETTE: as owners should we be asking motorola or verizon?
Shem: We are glad to inform you that since August 2 Motorola has been rolling out the 2.2 update for Motorola Droid.
Shem: This update is done by batch.
Shem: It is the system that randomly does the update.
Shem: Your phone will be notified if the update is ready to be loaded to your phone.
BOB PINETTE: i understand that but any idea of when the rollout is expected to be complete?
Shem: We are yet to receive that information.
Shem: I'm sure that you phone will be upgraded to 2.2 one of these days.
BOB PINETTE: is the rollout still active or has it been delayed?
Shem: It is still active.
BOB PINETTE: so am i right in saying that neither anybody or verizon has any real answers in regards to the update? who actually does the update motorola or vzw?
Shem: Actually, it is Google that does the update.
BOB PINETTE: it is google that actually pushes the update ota?
Shem: Yes, it is. Android is a Google operating system.
BOB PINETTE: well is there a way a customer can contact google for the straight answer as to what is going on then?
Shem: I'm sorry. I have no direct number of their customer service.
Shem:  Is there anything else?
BOB PINETTE: no thank you but maybe you could tell your bosses and the bosses at vzw that it is bad policy to have customer service lie and or tell different stories on the same subject

Shem: Thank you for your feedback. Rest assured that it will not be left unnoticed.

Like you, I want my update too, and to be honest, you are  not the only one to get the run around.

What I think is this: I honestly believe that the customer service reps that you and I deal with have no idea when the update is coming out to all phones. I believe they have been told the littlest as possible because the only people who really know when the update will come out is the people in I.S.(internal systems for lack of their wording). Why? maybe their system can't handle all the traffic of putting out the update to all the phones at the same time. Why? Well, think about how many people are going call because something doesn't work right with the new update, or they didn't follow directions (which we know will be their biggest headache). So, it is better to ease the update out slowly so service reps can LEARN how to handle to new problems.

Bob, this is only my opinion. But I have had my heartache with them too. About a month after we got our phones, my wife's phone email stopped working. AND if she got an incoming call it went to her voice mail. After 3 days of no service and talking to 4 yes 4 different service reps, I finally got a rep that asked if we would care to do a hard reset, you will lose your apps, but not the contacts and such. So we said sure! (we would done this in the beginning if someone had been smart enough to tell us that we had this option). So we did the reset, and the phone worked like new!

When we were finish, the girl that handle this asked if there was anything else she help us with and joking I said sure how about break on the bill. She JUMPED  right on that sure, let me see what we can do,. She came back and said we will give a 10% discount on your wife bill for 6 months! Sure we will take that.

Well, that was 3 months ago and we still haven't gotten our discount....So much for honesty....

I believe it was on Sunday of this past week that I received the notification on my phone that the 2.2 service update was ready to be installed. I installed it on Monday and there's been a few changes. Nothing major...some of the features especially on the camera are way easier to use. However, my email was not updating...it constantly was refreshing but nothing appears (though I have new emails in my gmail account)...and of course no notifications of emails. I have to turn the phone off and turn it back on and then it's fine as far as showing me the new emails in my account but the notifications are not appearing even though I have it set to show notifications. So I'll be contacting customer service if this doesn't begin to work.

 

I am not sure if you have received the notification to download the new version yet but I would imagine it's soon for everyone...maybe they are rolling it out by area code or something each day? I have No idea.

 

If anyone else downloaded the new version, would be curious to hear your experience and thoughts...and when you downloaded it.

THANK YOU VERIZON....NOW I GOT QUESTIONS ABOUT SOME OF NEW THINGS IN THE UPDATE...
