Is there such a thing as copy protection write built in to a phone such as the x2. shouldn't the phone come with it if you have the hdmi port.

What would the HDMI have to do with a SD card having write protection? The SD Card is where personal files can be written so why would it have write protection?

Thats what person at blockbuster said  (For Hdmi output studios require a copy protection write built into your phone. Unfortunately if your phone does not have this protection write built in, the hdmi output to TV will not work.)  apparently they like to have their own app but not able to wach movie from phone to tv. how is someone going to stay with phone in their hand for 1 1/2 hours or more watch movie only on the phone and no one else could watch with you

Are you perhaps referring to copyright protection?

Dirk is correct you are speaking about a digital copyright protection, this is a common features that sites that supply videos and music to a mobile device and this is intended to block this data from being displayed on any frvice other than the one authorized to view the data.

Normally there isnt any way to bypass this feature on a device but there has been apps on the market that will work on some devices.  Check out RealHDMI from the market, its not the best method to do this but it usualy works without issues..

probably more along the lines of having DRM (Digital Rights Management)  as a part of the video file than anything. Apple for instance locks all their stuff down so that you can only play it on an Apple device. I'm in the process of trying to get rid of DRM labels on all my music I bought from iTunes so I can enjoy them on my DX. I get the whole protection from distributing to just anyone without musicians getting money blah blah blah, but once I buy a song, then it is MY property and if I want to play it on one of my various devices, then I should be able to, whether that's music from iTunes played on DX, or being able to hook up HDMI to my TV to watch a movie that I have rented/purchased, without any restrictions. Amazon has it right....you buy an MP3 from them, you can play it anywhere you want to play it, unlike Apple and their big brother 'you can only play it on what the dear leader Steve Jobs says you can play it on' (don't worry I don't buy from iTunes anymore)
