There is a total of 16GB of internal memory eMMC, but it's partitioned into different sections (like a hard drive).
3.54 GB is for application storage, another 3.54 GB is (hidden) for phone use, which leaves 8GB "Internal Storage" available for music, pics, videos, etc.
I do agree that saying it has "16 GB of internal memory" can be misleading and makes it sound like you can copy 16GB of files from your PC to the phone's internal memory, when in fact you only have access to 8GB. So in fact you are getting 16GB on the microSD card + 8GB internal storage.
This is why I wish companies (Verizon, Motorola, HTC, etc) would list the REAL internal storage amounts, as it always gets people upset after the phone is released. The same exact thing happend with the Thunderbolt a few months ago.

More than likely the same as the Atrix as far as formating goes. It seems the specs are so similar, but with the addition of 4G.

I just looked at the Bionic I just bought and it only has 8 GB of internal storage. Anyone know who I can contact? The personnel at the store I got it from have no idea what to do.

Actually the eMMC partition is WAY different that you have it as. eMMC are the same for pretty much ANY android device. eMMC can be formatted which can cut available storage in 1/2, but greatly increases longevity on the eMMC. So in essence say they used two different formats you can come out with 8GB user accessible, but the rest is ext3 for the OS(and potential spacing for read/write and updates). There is no "hidden" partition for phone use. It's actually been formatted and it doesn't exist.
Personally I don't think it matters how they advertised it as. They ALWAYS have the basic type of generic disclaimer "depending on configuration". I always take that it has less than that. I will go down to the store and see if it has enough for my personal needs.
