I had a few custom ringtones and this morning I recieved a call but the ringer was all beeps.  I then checked and all custom ringers are now beeps.  I can still play the ringtones as an mp3 song but can't put them as ringtones.  Did this happen to anyone else or is it just me?

Same thing here and now I've discovered all my music will not play.  I see all the titles but when I click on it the message says:  Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file.

I think it has something to do with they were itunes when I imported the songs but V-Cast has changed all of them and I can't figure out how to reverse it.

I have been having this problem for about a week now...both with my music and ringtones...if i take the battery out and restart it; it fixes but then in about a day it happens again...not sure what's going on.

I agree that this seems to be generated by songs imported from itunes, usually refiltering the files usually resolves this bug.. A number of users have been experiancing this issue also when using phone as Mass Storage device because ringers are stored on sd card instead of device and isnt accessable when mounted to pc.

I have never used nor had I tunes installed and I just ran into this problem (only used Myxer) In fact I have only had my Droidx for about 5 days!. Did the soft reset and it worked but now had to go back to all my mp3's that I had set as ringtones and set them as ringtones again. What a pain! Is there going to be a fix  for this soon! I don't want to have to send  this puppy back and get a Iphone!

Try doing a soft reset on your device. Follow the link below to get the steps.

Just found this on the site, as I was experiencing the same problem--one day MP3's worked, the next they wouldn't:

"Media won’t play  includes “sorry the player does not support this type of audio file," custom ringtone stop working, video won’t play, etc. A reboot will restore full media function, but not permanently. We believe we have identified the cause of these errors. A fix has been developed for this and should eliminate the problem. It will be distributed in a future software release."

My problem is similar but slightly different.   My LG Vortex is about a month old...I had purchased a ringtone thru VCast and assigned it to a contact.  It was working fine and then one day a call came thru but the custom ringtone did not play.  In tyring to figure out why I discovered that the ringtone was no longer on the phone.  Is there a way to restore ringtones that have been purchased?  I can't seem to figure out how to do this.

By chance are any of the users having this issue clearing the cache or app data on the device.  This happens sometime when this data is cleared,,,

Hi Rtg,

As Wildman mentioned, ringtone information can be deleted if you have recently cleared the cache on the device. Had you by any chance, cleared the cache on your device prior to this issue happening?

In addition, when the call came in and the ringtone was just beeps, was the device hooked up with the USB cord to your PC? The change in ringtone can happen if this is the case.

Have you set any other ringtones to certain numbers? Have you set a default ringtone? Are they working?

I did take the time to check any issues with this device and what you describe is not a known issue. I do not doubt your word, and I would like to assist you with a resolution. If your issue has not yet been resolved, we would need to speak with you, in order to complete some troubleshooting with you.

Please feel free to send me a private message including your full name, your mobile number, and a good contact number to reach you. I will be more than happy to assist you further.

I hope this information is helpful for you. Have a great day!
