And...
What does" root" mean. When it says root the droid? Is that like resetting it?

rooting an android is the same as jailbreaking an iphone, you get free apps but it voids your warranty

You can remove apps by going to settings-->applications-->manage apps-->Scroll to the app you want to remove & tap it-->uninstall.
You cannot remove/uninstall pre-installed apps. I know I know it is a bummer. Rooting can't be talked about on these forums!

If you can't delete pre-installed apps, can you hide them?

There are some apps available in the market that can hide certain apps. Go to the market and in the search type hide apps. See which one suits you best.

LauncherPro Plus can hide unused apps & do a bunch of other really cool stuff (along with sppeding up everyday operation of the phone considerably).
I use it in my X & I love it, it is probably the best app I have added (& I've added a lot of apps)

TheGreatOne is correct. Rooting should not be discussed in the Verizon forums.
{edit for TOS violation}
The Droid X is an amazing phone. I don't have it yet, but will place my order tomorrow night and patiently wait until the end of the month for its arrival. iPhones be damned.....I want my X. Verizon appeared to be totally caught off guard by the surprising sales of the Droid X. It's not their fault that they didn't have enough for everyone all at once. There was no way to predict a rush like that. Motorola sent them a large amount of X's. Unfortunately, when almost the entire country wants one....all at the same time...supplies run out and people must wait for more shipments. Same thing happened with next-gen game consoles. Word of mouth is the most powerful form of advertising. Once the X's hit the market, people showed their friends....and word of the X's awesomeness spread like wildfire. Trust me....Verizon is waiting on their shipment from Motorola just as anxiously as you are waiting on Verizon to deliver it to you.
Be patient, my friends. The Droid X is worth the wait. Becoming impatient for the X, cancelling your order, and ordering an iPhone......is pretty much like changing your mind about a Corvette because they can't transfer it to your city fast enough....so you go buy a Camaro instead. (I'm not hating on Camaro's.....just used it in a comparison)
The above comparison may not be accurate, as the iPhone 4 is a great phone too, but I choose Droid over iPhones. I've used an iPhone, and I've seen Droid phones in action. Sorry Apple.....a lot of your products are great, but I gotta stick with Motorola on this one. Besides.....Verizon coverage and service owns AT&T (for me, anyway).
For those of you that are still waiting for your Droid to be shipped, try to pass the time by browsing Droid sites and planning which apps to download for it. It's fun, and it makes you want the X that much more. Just don't cancel your order. Your Droid is coming.
Cheers !

I was the second one in line at my Verizon store the day the X arrived in Richmond, VA! I love this thing and never leave a room without it. I became even more in love with "it" and Verizon when I arrived home yesterday and found a package with a Droid X T-shirt, and coupons to use and to share. What a marketing tool! I texted my son this am (He has an iPhone.) and asked him if HIS iPhone sent him a T-shirt and coupons!

What?? You got a Droid X T-SHIRT??
Geez, I paid full pop for my Droid X, I didn't even get a kiss or a cigarette!
Since I'm dumb enough to outright BUY this phone, anyone know where I can outright BUY the Droid X T-shirt??
Thanx, Geri O
