When I access settings and go to the "SD card & Phone storage" the only function that is light up is "Unmount SD card"

Does this help?.

Ok one problem solved. I unmounted the SD card and then remounted and the files in the gallery disappeared.

The four files in the downloads are still there. Any idea how to remove them?

Downloaded files are usually stored in the Downloads or Download directory on either your phone memory or the SD card. The easiest way to delete these files is to connect your phone to your PC is "Disk Mode" and simple delete them from  the drive letters that get loaded.

Steps:

  • Connect the phone to your PC via USB.
  • unlock the phone and from the Connect Menu, choose "Disk Mode"
  • On your PC, you will now need the two drives (one if you dont have an SD card inserted).
  • Navigate to these drives and loook for a folder named "Downloads" or "Download".
  • You should see the files that you are trying to delete and delete them.

Another alternative is to download a File Manager app from the market and use it to browse your device storage and delete the files. Some popular file managers are Open Manager, And Exploere, Astro File Manager, AndroZip File Manager. Once a file manager has been installed, note that the SD Card is easily visible, however your phone storage can be found under a directory named emmc in the root directory (/emmc).

Hope this helps!

If the download list is showing the issue, you can try deleteing it from the list.

Open the Internet app->  Tap menu-> More-> Downloads

Long Press the item you wish to delete, and from the popup menu, select Delete.

If this also does not solve your problem, I will recomment clearing data for the Internet App. This will however mean that you will have to re-create your bookmarks and re-add your passwords etc etc.

Hope this helps!
