deleting old SMS messages

i recently been getting old sms messages with no way to delete them i have a message from 12/20/10 that the message box has been deleted but the message cannot be deleted. If the message is opend it will not open the message it will remane on the laoding screen.

 can anyone help with some tips on how to delete this message

 i have a DROID INCREDIBLE

You should be able to long press the message and an options list will pop up. First, make sure that the message didn't somehow get locked, then choose delete. There may also be am option in your messaging app to start deleting messages when you have more than a set amount and, when that thread gets to that length, it should just go away.

This is one of the things I've noticed about the stock ROM on the Incredible.  It takes an ETERNITY to delete messages.  Like, I mean, I went to delete a few hundred and it took about 20 minutes.  That is no exageration.  Try deleting them when you don't need to mess with the phone, like before you go to bed.  Then see if they are gone in the morning.
