Yesterday morning I noticed the phone wasn't getting 3g, and I had 1-2 bars at most. I couldn't make or receive any calls even though I did have a couple bars. Stopped at the Verizon store wondering if there was something going on with the network, and was told no. They played with the phone a bit, then dialed into the network to reprogram the phone into the system using *228 80. This seemed to work as I was getting good reception all day yesterday and lat night. Woke up this morning to the same thing as yesterday. The other verizon phones can make calls, but even with two bars I'm not able to do anything.
Is this a phone issue, a network issue, a service issue, or an account issue?
Thanks.

I take it other people or yourself have experienced the 2 bars with other phones as well. If that is the case it sounds more like a network issue. Coverage by verizon is just okay in your area right?

I've never had issues using previous phones in the house, not had I had an issue with the DX until yesterday.right now it's getting 1 bar and no 1x or 3g. The other two phones are getting 1-2 bars. I understand that the scaling for the bars can vary by phone, but it's the lack of apparent data connection that gets me. Sometimes I can make/receive calls, other times I can't - seems to be a roll of the dice. Earlier today I wasn't able to make a call, but grabbed my old LG Clic (activated it for one of the kids) and was able to make a call.
If this was an issue from the start it would be one thing, but this just started out of the blue yesterday. Something tells me it's the network, not the phone, but regardless it's bumming me out as I'm not able to use the phone reliably as it stands.

Now i am leaning towards it is a phone issue since other phones get better bars. You could try calling tech support instead of going into a local Verizon store. I believe Verizon has their android support team. They may just be better at fixing the problem.

So I'm sitting here at work and getting 4 bars and 3G. I was getting 3-4 bars and 3G at the house up until Saturday morning. Friday night I was able to talk and surf from anywhere in the house with no issues at all.
After they reset the phone, I temporarily got 3-4 bars and 3G at the house. Yesterday I was getting 1-2 bars, no 3G, occasional 1X. This morning before I came to work I was getting 1-2 bars and no data connection at all.
Like I said in the post above, if it had been crappy all along, that would be one thing. Something happened between 1:00 am Friday night and 8:00 am Saturday morning.
Would heavier usage on the network cause this? I'm planning on stopping by the corporate store today at lunch, but not sure what they can do if it appears to be working fine.

Just got back from the corp. store. Apparently, there is an issue with a tower and they've had a number of people in complaining about data access. We'll see how it goes and if it gets better, but it's obvious something has happend..
