droid 2 problems

I have had my droid 2 for about a month. I absolutely love the phone but little by little I am starting to have many problems with it.

1) I know all smart phones have poor battery life, but not only does mine have poor battery life, it seems to actually drain the battery rather than charge it sometimes. I plugged my phone in and it had 30% battery left. I fell asleep (and yes I checked to make sure it was actually chargnig). expecting to wake up to a fully charged phone, it was down to 5. I took it to work plugged it in toa  different outlet witha  different charger, and it totally died. Once I got it to charge a lttle while it was off, it restarted and then charged totally fine. This has happened more than once, but now I have learned if the battery is draining rather than charging, to just restart it and it will charge fine. I also notice the phone tends to get very hot even when not in use as if something is running on it even when I am not using it. Regardless, I have to charge my phone 3 times thruoghout the day and I do not really even use it that often.

2) My phone freezes from time to time and I need to pop the battery out to reset it.

3) This is the most annoying one. I am constantly getting double letters with my pull out keyboard. Sometimes in texts, ALWAYS on my facebook statuses. I can deal with the dying battery because i alwyas have a charger with me, I can deal with the freezing, but the double letters is REALLY frustrating.

4) Recently I left the area and went on a trip with my students. We were in a major city so I did not expect to have signal problems, however several times while on the trip, myself and anyone else who had a droid of any type  had no signal, from Verizon? I have never had this problem.

I am about ready to reactivate one of my old phones. Is my phone just a dud? Any idea how I can fix any of these?

1) Do you have a task killer installed? If yes, remove it. Do you have antivirus installed? As strange as it sounds I've heard of a number of people, who after removal of antivirus these types problems have gone away.

2) Yea. That happens some one these. Items in 1 could contribute to this as well.

3) is this using the external keyboard or the on screen keyboard? I rarely (ok, never) use my external keyboard.

4) I've heard of some cases like this when people are very close to towers, but haven't experienced it. One thing to try before calling customer service is updating your PRL. You can do this by dialing *228 and selecting option 2.
