droid battery

OK..So I love my droid for the most part, but it has a ridiculous battery life. I realize that its not going to last as long as other phones because its more advanced...uses more memory, etc..But I find it hard to believe that I shouldn't be able to make it through a work day without my phone dying on me by 3 in the afternoon.

I've had to buy multiple extra chargers just so that I have one with me at all times, because if I forget one or don't have one there's not a chance in hell my phone is going to last through my work day, even just sitting on my desk or in my purse.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is it just my phone? Or is this the downfall of the best phone ever?

My Droid actually has really great battery life. I don't have any tips on how to extend it ... does anyone else? I'm just posting to let you know it's not all Droids.

downlod Advanced Task Killer from the market. A bunch of people say you dont need it, but it has helped my battery life a great deal, now going off of about 4 days from one charge, and thats with texting, phone calls, and browsing the web alot. And if I do a lot of heavy browsing, texting, etc. I can get about a day and a half from it

My fist Motorola Droid had the same problem, but a big clue for me was the fact that the battery would do a complete charge from "totally dead/shut off" to "full charge" where the white indicator light by the charging port would shut off in about 45 or 50 minutes... The total charge time should be more in the 90 minute range, considering the capacity of the battery and the rated output of the charger. (possibly 2-3 hours if charging from a computer's USB port which has a max output current of 500 mA) My phone would also die in about 7 hours, with moderate usage... I noticed this right away and and exchanged the phone 2 days after purchase and there is night and day difference. I have no idea if it was the battery or the phone's charging circuit that was defective in my first phone, but you might look into the possibility that you have either a bad battery or a bad phone. One thing I have found with all phones is that having WiFi turned on when it is not needed shortens battery life considerably. (especially if you are not actually connected, and it is "searching" for WiFi access points.) There are several widgets available from the Market that put a simple icon on your desktop you can click to turn on/off WiFi if you want easier access to control it. (Eris users have an HTC supplied widget that does the same thing already on their phones)
